Dengler Leads Golfers Through First Round Of Loyola Intercollegiate

GOODYEAR, Ariz. - Senior Jimmy Dengler carded a 2-under 70 through the first round of the Loyola Intercollegiate to lead the Loyola University Maryland men's golf team at the Palm Valley Golf Course.

Dengler was one of 37 players to finish under par today. He'll enter tomorrow's second round tied for 21st overall.

Sophomore Bennett Wisner, competing as an individual, was the second-ranked Greyhound, shooting a 1-over 73 to finish tied for 52nd, while junior Ethan Wall and sophomore Brendan Peel, also competing as an individual, finished tied for 63rd overall with a 2-over 74.

Sophomore Jeremy Wall was third for the Greyhounds, shooting a 4-over 76 to rank tied for 82nd, followed by Will Wears, who's tied for 91st at 5-over 77, and junior Connor Flach, who's in 100th place with a 9-over 81.

As a team, the Greyhounds are 16th with a team score of 9-over 297. Indiana leads the team race at 17-under 271, followed by William & Mary (13-over 275) and Connecticut (11-under 277).

Loyola will return to action Monday morning for the second round.
