BALTIMORE - The top-seeded Loyola University Maryland men's soccer team dropped a heartbreaker to the sixth-seeded Colgate Raiders, 3-2, in overtime on Saturday night in the semifinal round of the Patriot League Championships at Ridley Athletic Complex.

Loyola jumped out to an early lead in the sixth minute A. Mickey Watson headed in a corner kick from Gabriel Carlsson for his third goal of the season. Goalkeeper Chase Vosvick would help preserve the Greyhounds' first-half shutout with a diving steal in the 32nd minute to stop Colgate's breakaway and rob the Raiders of a potential shot attempt.

The Greyhounds came out of the break and added to their lead in the 62nd minute as Carlsson settled the ball in the midfield before playing it through to Sam Brown. Brown threaded the ball through defenders for Josh Fawole to finish in the bottom right corner of the net.

The Raiders cut their deficit to one in the 71st minute when Kentaro Morrison played a through ball to Steven DeLeo to finish.

Brian Saramago, who recorded a game-high seven shots, had an opportunity to regain a two-goal advantage for Loyola in the 83rd minute, but Colgate goalkeeper Jacob Harris picked up one of his six saves on the attempt.

The Raiders scored their game-tying goal just four minutes later as Christian Clarke finished Jared Stroud's cross on the six-yard line in the 87th minute.

Both teams would close out regulation with 12 shots on goal; the Raiders held a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.

The Greyhounds would put up two more shots in overtime before Colgate netted its finisher in the 97th minute, when DeLeo scored off a cross from Stroud.

Loyola finished its season with an 11-6-1 overall record, marking its first 10-win season since 2012. The Greyhounds also captured their first regular-season conference title since 2008, and its first since joining the Patriot League for the 2013 season.
