BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The Loyola University Maryland women's basketball team was unable to find its rhythm Wednesday night, falling to St. Francis Brooklyn 64-47 at the Pope Physical Education Center.

Freshman Izzy Therien paced the Greyhounds (2-6 overall) with 10 points for her fourth collegiate double-digit point performance. She also contributed a team-best six rebounds, while sophomore Stephanie Karcz added nine points and five rebounds for Loyola.

For the Terriers (3-5), Jade Johnson led all players with 22 points.

The first quarter was non-stop action with the first whistle being blown at the 1:57 mark, with St. Francis Brooklyn holding a 16-13 advantage at that point. The Terriers came out of the media timeout and scored the final seven points of the frame to pull ahead 23-13 at the quarter break.

Alexis Gray knocked down a 3-pointer to start the second quarter, and points from Karcz and Ashley Hunter pulled the Greyhounds within five, at 25-20, but St. Francis strung together a nine-point run to extend their lead to 14, at 34-20. Loyola answered with a layup from Karcz and a pair of free throws from Therien, but the Terriers connected from downtown as time expired in the half to take a 37-24 lead into the intermission.

The Greyhounds struggled to gain any momentum out of the break, as they were whistled for 10 fouls in the third quarter and fell behind by a score of 51-32 by the end of the period. Loyola was unable to make up the deficit in the fourth quarter and ultimately fell, 64-47.

Loyola will be back in action on Saturday when it hosts crosstown rival Towson in the first game of a Loyola basketball doubleheader. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Reitz Arena.
