  • Alex Jackson's second goal of the game in the 81st minute put the Midshipmen in front by two, but Gallagher struck Hoefs corner kick in the 85th minute and the ball deflected off a Navy defender before crossing the line, pulling the Greyhounds within a goal.
  • Loyola continued to press for the equalizer, and Hoefs nearly tallied it with less than five seconds left. A long service came her way at the top of the box, and she flipped it to the right post where Midshipmen goalkeeper Sydney Forston made a diving stop to corral it.

Series History

  • Loyola and Bucknell will meet for the 10th time overall, and the sixth time as Patriot League foes, when the teams take the field on Wednesday night at Ridley Athletic Complex.
  • The Greyhounds won the first three meetings, the last coming in a 2-1 decision on Diane Geppi-Aikens Field in 2007. The teams played to a 2-2 tie the following year and then did not meet again until 2013, Loyola's first year in the Patriot League. Bucknell has won all five meetings between the teams as conference foes.
  • Last year, Kendall Ham gave Bucknell a 1-0 lead late in the first half as she scored off an assist from Alexandra Catanzarite in the 38th minute. Ham's sister, Jackie, then tacked on another goal with 17:55 left in the game, and Gabby Blair made it 3-0 five minutes.

Freshmen Breaking Through

  • Sarah Bayer has been a key part of the Greyhounds' offense all season, but she broke through into the scoring column with three in the span of two games.. Her assist on a Jourdan Ziff goal in the second half against Towson was her first collegiate point.
  • She then tallied her first goal with a terrific run past two Mount St. Mary's defenders to give the Greyhounds the eventual game-winner on Sunday.
  • Kaleigh Gallagher got into the scoring column for the first time in the Navy game, talying the first of her career in the second half off a Hannah Hoefs corner kick.

Coaches Corner

  • "Heading into our next conference game, we are really looking to get a result and some points on our board. The last two games, for as well as we have played, we have just come up short. The team is playing so well right now, and I have to believe good things will come our way. The depth we have at each position this year is unparalleled to any of my previous years and I trust this will be a positive for us as we head into a stretch of three games in six days. Our attacking players are really starting to sync and our backline has been very good, we just need to improve on some of the finer details now to turn these results." - Head Coach Naomi Meiburger
