New Season
• Loyola was picked to finish third in the 2018-19 Patriot League Preseason Poll with 129 points and four first-place votes.
• The Greyhounds are coming off a 2017-18 season in which they went 7-11 in League play and secured the No. 6 seed in the Patriot League Tournament. Loyola earned a first-round bye, but fell to third-seeded Navy, 63-55, in the quarterfinal round.
• Loyola returns its entire starting lineup and 93.3 percent of its scoring from last year. It also gets 2016-17 All-Patriot League First Team guard Bri Betz-White back after an injury year.
• The Greyhounds also welcome back 2017-18 Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year Stephanie Karcz and 2017-18 Patriot League Rookie of the Year Isabella Therien.
Loyola Greyhounds (1-11, 0-1 Patriot League)
• Redshirt senior Bri Betz-White, an All-Patriot League First Team guard in 2016-17 who missed last season due to injury, and 2017-18 Patriot League Rookie of the Year Isabella Therien lead the Greyhounds in scoring, with 10.6 points per game each.
• Junior Stephanie Karcz, the 2017-18 Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year and a Preseason All-Patriot League pick this season, leads the defense with 10.4 rebounds per game and 55 steals. She ranks fourth in the League in rebounding, tied for third in assists (41) and is first in steals, while her 4.6 steals per game ranks third in the NCAA this year.
Army West Point Black Knights (5-7, 0-1 Patriot League)
• Army West Point lost at Boston University, 63-51, in its Patriot League opener Thursday.
• Madison Hovren is averaging a double-double in scoring (18.1) and rebounding (12.4) for the Black Knights. Those totals both rank in the top-two of the League leaders.
• Hovren also has a team-best 22 steals, while Jess Lewis leads the team from long range, hitting 25 3-pointers, and in assists (54).
Series History
• Army West Point leads the all-time series, 11-5, and is 7-2 when playing at home.
• In a series that dates back to 2008, Loyola earned four of the first five wins, but the Black Knights then went on a seven-game win streak once Loyola joined the Patriot League, sweeping each of the 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2018 series meetings.
• The Greyhounds earned their first League victory over Army West Point in 2016-17, the season after falling to the Black Knights in the title game of the Patriot League Championships.
