BALTIMORE – Martin Ssessanga had the game-clinching conversion from the spot in the sixth round of penalty kicks, as No. 4 Lafayette advanced 5-4 on PK's following a scoreless draw with No. 2 Loyola University Maryland men's soccer, earning a spot in this weekend's Patriot League championship game.
The Leopards (9-6-5) will play at No. 1 Lehigh on Saturday for this year's conference title, while the Greyhounds end their year with a final record of 10-7-2.
Loyola had a 19-7 advantage in shots, including a 10-0 margin in the opening half, but Lafayette goalie Alex Sutton finished with seven saves to help secure a 0-0 tie and force the shootout.
Chase Vosvick recorded a pair of key saves in the final minutes of regulation to extend the contest. He ends the year with three-straight shutouts and a career-long shutout streak of 303:16 minutes.
The teams were tied 4-4 following the first five rounds of penalties, with Sutton making a save in the first round and Lafayette missing high in the fifth. Ssessanga clinched the visitor's advancement after Loyola's sixth-round attempt rang off the crossbar.
Loyola went to penalty kicks for the first time since the 2007 NCAA tournament against Maryland. Lafayette will be playing for its first Patriot League title since 2012.
Brian Saramago had eight of Loyola's 19 shots in the draw. He concludes his collegiate career ranked 14th in program history in points (91), tied for 14th in goals (34) and tied for ninth in assists (23).

Matt Dabrowski also suited for the final time at Loyola. The senior class went 41-23-7 in their four years, including a 27-6-3 mark in Patriot League play, and earned three-consecutive regular season conference championships from 2017-19.
Lehigh topped No. 6 Bucknell by a 1-0 final in Tuesday's other conference semifinal to earn a chance to host Saturday's championship game.
