BALTIMORE – After three road contests to begin the 2019-20 season, Loyola University Maryland women's basketball hosts Howard in its home opener at Reitz Arena on Wednesday evening.

The Greyhounds will be away from Baltimore for their following five games, not returning to Reitz until a 1 p.m. matchup against Monmouth on Dec. 20.

Last Time Out

  • So. G Laryn Edwards scored a career-high 17 points, while Sr. G Stephanie Karcz chipped in 13 points, nine rebounds and six steals for Loyola in a 75-46 victory at Fairleigh Dickinson last Wednesday.
  • Fr. F Emily McAteer added 11 points off the bench for the Greyhounds, who outscored the Knights by a 42-16 margin in the second half to break open what had been a three-point game at the break.
  • Loyola's 29-point win was its largest since a 74-30 victory over Lipscomb to begin the 2016-17 season.
  • Edwards scored nine of her 17 points during a decisive 23-9 third quarter for the visitors. She shot 6 for 9 from the field (4-5 3FG).

Scouting Howard

  • The Bison (2-2) are coming off a 92-80 win over Saint Peter's on Sunday. They have also topped UMBC (72-61) this season, with their two defeats coming to La Salle (78-62) and #25 South Florida (82-53).
  • Five different players scored in double figures on Sunday, with Sarah Edmond and Brooklyn Fort-Davis contributing 16 points apiece. Howard shot 8 for 13 as a team from 3-point range.

The 2017-18 Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, she is a three-time All-Defensive Team selection, a two-time All-Patriot League performer (first team in 2017-18), and she was also an All-Rookie Team honoree as a freshman.
  • Karcz currently has 945 points and 825 rebounds, giving her a chance to become the fourth player in team history to reach 1,000 in both categories.
