Box Score LEWISBURG, Pa. - A short-handed Loyola University Maryland women's basketball team couldn't keep up with Bucknell Wednesday night, as the Bison handed the Greyhounds an 87-55 loss in Sojka Pavilion.
Loyola, playing with just seven Greyhounds due to injury and illness, was led by
Bri Betz-White and
Delaney Connolly, who each finished with 15 points.
Hannah Niles added 11 points for the Greyhounds, while
Stephanie Karcz had a team-best six rebounds, six assists and three steals.
Kyi English paced five Bison in double-figure scoring with 15 points. Bucknell knocked in 11 3-pointers throughout the game and ended up with 11 Bison in the scoring column.
Bucknell started hot, connecting on 71.4 percent of its first-quarter attempts, including hitting four 3-pointers to pull ahead by 10, 26-16, at the first break. Loyola attempted to slow Bucknell through the opening of the second quarter, but the Bison ultimately ended up hitting from downtown to spark a 15-6 run that pushed them ahead 41-22 with 2:16 to play in the half.
Connolly attempted to jumpstart the Greyhounds' offense with a 3-pointer at the 1:58 mark, but Bucknell brought the first-half scoring to a close and went into the locker room with a 43-25 advantage.
Loyola would be unable to close its gap in the third quarter, as the Bison outscored the Greyhounds, 25-19. Bucknell then opened the fourth quarter on a 11-2 run and cruised to the win.
The Greyhounds will return home to host Colgate on Saturday. Opening tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m, with a pregame Senior Day Ceremony, honoring seniors
