BALTIMORE –
Lin Robertson and
Sandra Aguirre scored singles wins on Saturday, but Bucknell University defeated Loyola University Maryland, 5-2, in Patriot League play at the McClure Tennis Center.
Robertson outlasted Sofia Ayuso, 6-3, 7-6 (3) at No. 4 singles, while Aguirre as a 6-1, 6-3 winner over Mishi Papich at No. 5.
Robertson and
Alexandria Agee also teamed for a 6-4 No. 2 doubles win over Daniela Bellini and Ayuso.
The Bison scored wins at No. 1 and 3 doubles, however, to take that point. Cayla Koch and Paige Leavy edged
Kateri Martin and
Abigail Thornton, 7-6 (7) in the top flight, and Papich and Jill Auteri beat
Abby Decker and Aguirre, 6-2, at No. 3.
Other than the wins by Robertson and Aguirre, the Bison won the other singles matches. Billini came back to beat Martin, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1, while Koch topped Thornton, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2.
Leavy was a three-set winner, 6-3, 6-7 (3), 6-1 over Decker at No. 3, and Auteri beat Agee, 7-6 (2), 6-4.
