CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Loyola University Maryland women's lacrosse senior
Lindsey Ehrhardt has been named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week for a conference-best fifth time this season, as announced by the League office Monday.
Ehrhardt, a defender from Westbury, New York, finished last week with seven ground balls, six caused turnovers and two draw controls. She also helped the defense allow just 5.00 goals per game in the two outings, as the Greyhounds allowed just one goal to Bucknell in the 21-1 midweek win and then they held Colgate to single digits in an 18-9 victory Saturday.
Against Bucknell, Ehrhardt held her individual matchup scoreless, while the defensive unit gave up just one goal, which came on a man-up opportunity in the first half. Loyola then posted a second-half shutout, as the Greyhounds held the Bison scoreless for the final 43 minutes and 24 seconds of the contest. Ehrhardt finished the game with four ground balls and a game-high four caused turnovers.
In the Senior Day win over Colgate, Ehrhardt led the defense with three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
For the season, Ehrhardt leads the Patriot League with 37 caused turnovers, while her 2.33 per game ranks 13th in the NCAA. She's also second on the team with 36 ground balls.
Loyola will close out its regular season on Friday as it travels to Holy Cross for a 4 p.m. opening draw. The Greyhounds will then turn their attention to the postseason, as they host the Patriot League Championships at Ridley Athletic Complex on Thursday, May 2 and Saturday, May 4. The winner of the tournament will capture the League's automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
