BALTIMORE - Loyola University Maryland placed three student-athletes on the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District Women's At-Large Team, with senior
Kristen Yanchoris (women's lacrosse), junior
Anne Hayburn (women's swimming & diving) and sophomore
Elli Kluegel (women's lacrosse) earning first-team honors, as selected and announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The Google Cloud Academic All-America program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom. The Academic All-District teams are divided into geographic districts across the United States and Canada, with the trio of Greyhounds being named to the District 2 team, which represents the District of Columbia, Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
All three of these Greyhounds were named to their respective Patriot League All-Academic Team this year. With their selection to the All-District team, all three are now eligible for selection to one of the three Academic All-America teams, which will be announced in June.
Yanchoris is a two-time Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year for women's lacrosse. In addition to starting and playing all but one game throughout her career, Yanchoris will graduate with a 3.974 grade-point average as a business administration and marketing major. A three-time Academic All-Patriot League honoree, four-time All-Patriot League selection and the 2018 Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, Yanchoris is also a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Student-Athlete, Mu Kappa Tau, and Beta Gamma Sigma National Honor Societies. She was named a Magis Scholar Award winner for achieving strong grades in a rigorous program of study at Loyola, and also received Loyola's Student Choice A.L.I.V.E. award for demonstrating Action, Loyalty, Integrity Values and Excellence.
Hayburn has compiled a perfect 4.0 grade-point average as an accounting major. A Magis Scholar Leader and Presidential Scholar, Hayburn is also a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa, Beta Alpha Psi, Beta Gamma Sigma and Alpha Sigma Nu honor societies. She's a three-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll member and a student government representative for athletics. In the pool, she competed in two individual events at the Patriot League Championships, scoring 10th in the 100-yard butterfly in 55.19 and finishing 18th in the 100-yard backstroke in 57.00. She was also a member of the fourth-place 400-yard medley relay team at the conference championships.
Kluegel also maintains a perfect 4.00 grade-point average as a biology major. A Presidential Scholar and Loyola's First-Year Biology Achievement Award recipient, Kluegel is a member of Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Society and the Pre-Health Society. She's played in all 42 games throughout her career, helping the Greyhounds to back-to-back Patriot League undefeated regular-season championships and the 2019 Patriot League Tournament title. She's scored 64 goals throughout her career so far and has added six assists for 70 points.
