Quick Hits About The 'Hounds

  • Loyola begins Patriot League play with a Saturday afternoon trip to northeastern Pennsylvania to face Lehigh. The contest is the second of three-straight games away from Ridley Athletic Complex for the Greyhounds.
  • Loyola went 2-6-1 vs. conference opponents last season, ranking ninth out of 10 teams, while Lehigh was fifth with a Patriot League record of 3-6. Only three points separated the fifth through 10th place teams in last year's conference standings.

Last Weekend

  • Loyola split its two contests last week, shutting out VMI by a 2-0 final at Ridley on Friday before dropping a 4-0 decision at 2018 co-Ivy League champions Penn on Sunday afternoon.
  • Sophomores Ariel Tillman and Sarah Bayer each totaled three points in Friday's victory, with Tillman's opening goal in the 48th minute the first of her collegiate career. Bayer added an insurance strike 18 minutes later.
  • Freshman Paige Sim earned a win in her first appearance at Loyola on Friday after playing the final 45 minutes in goal. She then made four saves while allowing just one goal in 72 minutes of relief action on Sunday.
  • All Penn goals on Sunday were scored in a span of 10:24 midway through the first half. The Quakers finished the contest with an 18-2 advantage in shots.

  • Loyola leads 4-3-2 in a series which dates back to 1995.
  • Lehigh holds a 3-1-2 edge since the Greyhounds joined the Patriot League in 2013.
  • Loyola picked up its first win over the Mountain Hawks since 2006 last October, as Sarah Bayer scored two of the Greyhounds' four goals in a 4-3 victory at Ridley.
  • The Greyhounds led 15-9 in shots in that contest, with Hannah Hoefs adding a goal and an assist in the win.

About The Mountain Hawks

  • Lehigh (2-2-4) topped UMBC and Saint Joseph's by identical 2-0 scores over the weekend to earn its first two victories of the season.
  • Three of the Mountain Hawks' first six contests in 2019 ended in 0-0 draws. Lehigh has totaled six goals overall in eight games this season.
  • Senior Kayla Arestivo, Lehigh's lone selection to the Preseason All-Patriot League team, leads the team with two goals on the year.
  • After qualifying for the Patriot League tournament on the final day of the regular season in 2018, the Mountain Hawks upset Bucknell and Colgate before falling to top-seeded Boston University by a 1-0 final in the conference's championship game.
