TOWSON, Md. – Several Loyola University Maryland volleyball players posted career-high numbers in various statistical categories on Saturday, but the University of New Hampshire held on for a five-set win, 25-18, 24-26, 26-24, 25-23, 15-13, at the Tiger Invitational.
Abby Hamilton matched her career-best with a match-high 21 kills, while
Cecylia Guye and
Megan Bukala each had collegiate-best totals of nine kills.
Anne Ernst added 14 kills and had a career-high 27 digs for the Greyhounds, matching
Katie Forsythe's team-high number.
Corinne Filograna added to the career-highs with 16 digs.
Ashley Dwyer passed out a career-high 58 assists in the five sets, as well.
Loyola nearly took a 2-1 lead in the match in the third set when Bukala put it up 24-22 with a kill, but the Wildcats (9-3) came back with four-straight points to take a 2-1 lead instead.
Hamilton broke a 23-23 tie in the fourth with consecutive kills to force a deciding fifth set where New Hampshire went up by as many as six at match-point, 14-8. The Greyhounds, however, held off match-point five times as
Adara Kellogg ahd two kills amongst others by Bukala and Hamilton. The Wildcats, however, got a kill by Kennedi Smith to claim the match.
Loyola finishes non-conference play on Sunday with a 3:30 p.m. match against NJIT at Towson University's SECU Arena.
