Women’s Tennis Splits Two Matches Sunday

Julia Thompson's singles win helped Loyola beat Morgan State.
TOWSON, Md. – Loyola University Maryland women's tennis wrapped up play at the Towson Invitational on Saturday, splitting a pair of matches with a win over Morgan State University but a loss to Morgan State University.
 
In the match against the Bears, Lin Robertson and Alexandria Agee scored a doubles win, 6-3, 6-2, and the Greyhounds went on to win three of the four singles matches for a 4-1 victory in the 4+1 format.
 
Abigail Thornton cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles, and Abby Decker was a 6-0, 6-4 victor at No. 3. Julia Thompson closed out the victory by scoring a win with a long super-tiebreaker third set. She won 6-3, 4-6, (15-13).
 
Delaware State slipped past the Greyhounds, 3-2. Sydney Lund won the No. 1 singles match, 6-3, 4-6, 10-7, and Taylor Kuncl was a three-set winner, 6-4, 4-6, 10-8, at No. 3.
 
Next weekend, the Greyhounds host the Loyola Women's Tennis Invitational Friday through Sunday at the McClure Tennis Center at Ridley Athletic Complex.
