HAMILTON, N.Y. – Colgate University held visiting Loyola University Maryland to a .066 hitting percentage on Saturday, beating the Greyhounds, 25-17, 25-15, 25-23, in a Patriot League match.

Loyola looked to force a fourth set, taking a 13-9 lead on an
Ashley Dwyer kill, but Colgate (9-5 overall, 2-0 Patriot League) scored six of eight points to tie the set at 15-15. The Greyhounds (8-8, 1-1) went up by two twice thereafter, first at 17-15 and again on an
Ann Ernst kill at 19-17.

Colgate, however, tied the set at 20-20 on a Loyola attack error, but Ernst again put the Greyhounds back on top, 21-20.
Cecylia Guye and
Abby Hamilton locked up a block for Loyola on the next point, but Colgate scored three in a row to lead 23-22.

Hamilton put away a kill to tie the set at 23-23, but Colgate the final two points to complete the match victory.

Ernst led Loyola with 11 kills, and Hamilton finished with nine.
Katie Forsythe had a match-best 18 digs for the Greyhounds.
Loyola opens a four-match homestand on Friday, October 4, when it hosts Bucknell University at 7 p.m.
