BALTIMORE – The IWLCA released its preseason top 25 coaches' poll on Monday afternoon, with defending Patriot League champions Loyola University Maryland listed No. 11 in the national rankings.
The Greyhounds, who were projected to top the Patriot League standings for a seventh-straight season last week, received 359 points in the poll. Loyola has been ranked in every IWLCA coaches' poll for the previous two seasons, reaching as high as No. 9 last spring.
The 2020 schedule includes seven opponents ranked in this year's preseason poll, including Loyola's home and season opener against No. 24 Johns Hopkins at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15.
Other ranked teams on the schedule include No. 14 Florida (Feb. 22), No. 12 Penn (March 7), No. 19 Georgetown (March 18), No. 4 Syracuse (April 1), No. 8 Virginia (April 8) and No. 15 Navy (April 23). The Syracuse and Virginia matchups will both take place at Ridley Athletic Complex.
Loyola is coming off its fourth Patriot League championship in six years, topping Navy by a 21-9 final in the title game last spring. The Greyhounds also went 9-0 against Patriot League opponents in the regular season, extending the nation's longest active win streak against conference teams to 52 dating back to Loyola's arrival in the Patriot League prior to the 2014 season.

Katie Detwiler on the Preseason All-Patriot League team.
Loyola was previously ranked in both the Inside Lacrosse (No. 11) and Lacrosse Magazine (No. 15) preseason national polls back in December. The Greyhounds have reached the NCAA tournament in eight of the last nine seasons under head coach
Jen Adams.
Maryland earned the No. 1 spot in the IWLCA rankings with 608 points and 15 of 25 first-place votes. The Terrapins were followed by North Carolina, Northwestern, Syracuse and Boston College to round out the top five.
