BALTIMORE – Loyola University Maryland women's lacrosse, which is ranked No. 12 in the latest IWLCA coaches' poll and #10 in the Inside Lacrosse media poll, hosts Towson in a Wednesday afternoon contest at Ridley Athletic Complex.

Last Time Out

  • Jr. A Livy Rosenzweig contributed a team-high six points (2 G, 4 A) and eight draw controls, and Loyola scored 15 of the game's final 18 goals to pull away for a 16-7 victory over No. 24 Johns Hopkins on Saturday.
  • The Greyhounds closed the first half on a 6-1 run after trailing by three goals early on, and they outscored the Blue Jays (1-1) by a 9-2 margin after the intermission.
  • So. M Jillian Wilson led the offense with four goals and also chipped in six draws. Jr. M Elli Kluegel supplied two goals and two assists.
  • Loyola finished the afternoon with a dominant 18-7 edge in draw controls.
  • The Greyhounds earned their first win over Hopkins since 2016, snapping a three-game losing streak in the series.

Patriot League Weekly Award Winners

  • Loyola accounted for three of the Patriot League's five weekly award recipients, with So. D Katie Detwiler (Defender of the Week), Jr. GK Kaitlyn Larsson (Goalkeeper) and Fr. A Emily Wills (Attacker) all taking home weekly accolades.
  • Detwiler limited 2020 Tewaaraton Watch List candidate Maggie Schneidereith (48 G, 29 A in 2019) to a single goal while also contributing three draw controls, two ground balls and one caused turnover. She receives her second-career weekly honor.
  • Larsson matched a career-high with 12 saves in her first collegiate start, limiting Hopkins to its fewest goals total since April 13, 2018. She is now 4-0 overall at Loyola, with all four wins against nationally-ranked opposition.
  • Wills recorded three goals and a pair of assists in her collegiate debut. She had three points (2 G, 1 A) during a 6-1 run for Loyola to end the first half.

Series History

  • Loyola leads 34-13 in a series which dates back to the Greyhounds' inaugural season in 1973.
  • The Greyhounds have won five of the last seven meetings overall, including a 12-6 road triumph on March 6 last season.
  • Livy Rosenzweig totaled a team-high seven points (4 G, 3 A) in last year's win, while Kady Glynn added 15 saves in goal.
  • Towson's last win in the series was a 15-8 home victory on Feb. 26, 2017.

Scouting Towson

  • The Tigers (0-2) have fallen to Penn State (12-9) and St. Joseph's (13-12) in their first two matchups this season.
  • Towson finished with a record of 7-10 (5-1 CAA) in 2019, falling 11-8 to Hofstra in the CAA semifinals to snap a three-year run of qualifying for the NCAA tournament.
  • Sr. D Sami Chenoweth was a third team IWLCA All-America selection last season after leading the nation with 64 caused turnovers. Chenoweth was also named to the 2020 Tewaaraton Award Watch List last week.
  • As a team, Towson was 10th nationally in caused turnovers per game (11.5) in 2019.
  • Fr. M Blair Pearre leads the Tigers with five goals and seven draw controls through the season's first two games.  

Home Sweet Home

  • With Saturday's victory over Johns Hopkins, Loyola has now won 11 consecutive games at Ridley Athletic Complex.
  • The Greyhounds have won all 11 contests by at least three goals, and six of the 11 victories have come against nationally-ranked opposition (Navy 2x, Florida, Penn State, Georgetown, Johns Hopkins).
  • Loyola is 73-22 overall at home since its first contest at Ridley on March 16, 2010.

Rosenzweig Moving Up Program Record Book

  • Livy Rosenzweig already holds school records in single-season points (116) and assists (70) and single-game assists (8).
  • She moved up to No. 3 all-time at Loyola in both assists (121) and draw controls (182) during Saturday's season-opening victory, and she is also ranked ninth all-time in points (224).
  • Rosenzweig is 28 assists away from surpassing Annie Thomas' school-record of 148. She also ranks sixth in Patriot League history, and is 10 away from moving past former teammate Hannah Powers into the top five.
  • Rosenzweig has recorded points in 42 of 43 collegiate games, including each of the last 35 contests.

Wilson Picks Up Where She Left Off

  • Jillian Wilson led all Loyola freshmen with 37 points (29 G, 8 A) in her debut season last spring, and she added four more goals to kick off 2020 on Saturday.
  • Three of Wilson's goals came during a decisive 5-0 run early in the second half, as the Greyhounds expanded their lead from 7-6 to 12-6 in a span of 11 minutes. She now has six games with 4+ points in 22 collegiate appearances.
  • Wilson also set a new career-high with her six draw controls on Saturday.

Two Greyhounds Named to 2020 Tewaaraton Watch List

  • Livy Rosenzweig and Jr. M Sam Fiedler were selected to the 2020 Tewaaraton Award Watch List last Thursday.
  • A total of 50 players across the NCAA were chosen as early-season candidates for college lacrosse's top honor.
  • Rosenzweig was one of 25 semifinalists for the award during her sophomore season last spring.

  • The Greyhounds are projected to top the Patriot League standings for a seventh-consecutive season since joining the conference prior to the 2014 campaign.
  • Loyola went 16-5 (9-0) last spring, winning its fourth Patriot League postseason championship in six seasons and advancing to the NCAA tournament for an eighth time in the last nine years.
  • Seven opponents on Loyola's schedule were ranked in the IWLCA's preseason coaches' poll.
  • Livy Rosenzweig became the first Greyhound to achieve first team IWLCA All-America status since 2012 last season after breaking her own school record in points (116, 46 G, 70 A) and also setting a new program mark in assists.
  • Loyola led Division I in both assists per game (9.4) and shot percentage (51.3) in 2019, ranked seventh nationally in scoring margin (+6.8) and ninth in goals per game (15.9).
  • Loyola holds an overall mark of 154-66 (79-12 conference) in 11+ seasons under head coach Jen Adams, posting winning records every year during her tenure.
  • Adams has been named Patriot League Coach of the Year in five of Loyola's six seasons in the conference, including each of the last four years.  

Looking Ahead

  • The Greyhounds begin a stretch of three-straight road games at #3/4 Florida at 12 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. The Gators (2-0) snapped defending national champion Maryland's 86-game home winning streak with a 15-14 victory over the weekend.
