BALTIMORE – Loyola University Maryland women's lacrosse, which is ranked No. 12 in the latest IWLCA coaches' poll and #10 in the Inside Lacrosse media poll, heads to #4/3 Florida for its first road game of the season on Saturday.
Last Time Out
- So. M Jillian Wilson scored four goals for a second-straight game, and Jr. A Livy Rosenzweig added two goals and three assists in a 14-10 victory for Loyola over Towson on Wednesday.
- Kaitlyn Larsson registered 10 saves in goal for the Greyhounds, who used an extended 12-3 run in the middle stages of the contest to take control.
- Wilson (6) and So. D Katie Detwiler (5) won 11 of Loyola's draws, with Detwiler also adding three ground balls and her first collegiate assist.
- Rosenzweig's five-point game was the 28th of her career. She now has 229 points (105 G, 124 A), moving past Rita Ciletti (1983-86) up to No. 8 all-time in program history.
Offensive Surge Overcomes Slow Start
- Loyola was held off the scoreboard for over 20 minutes to start Wednesday's game against Towson, with the Greyhounds trailing 2-0 with under nine minutes left in the opening half.
- A Livy Rosenzweig goal at the 8:39 mark began a 7-0 run which stretched into the second half. Fr. A Sydney Foster's first collegiate strike ultimately capped off a 12-3 stretch with 6:02 remaining in regulation.
- Loyola has scored 10+ goals in 17-straight games dating back to last March.
Series History
- Florida leads 6-1 in a series which began in 2013 and has continued every year since.
- The Greyhounds knocked off the Gators for the first time last season, as Livy Rosenzweig (4 G, 1 A) and Jr. M Sam Fiedler (3 G, 2 A) each had five points during a 15-12 win at Ridley Athletic Complex over then-No. 5 Florida on Feb. 23.
- The Gators have won all four meetings in Gainesville, including a 17-16 overtime triumph during Loyola's last trip south on Feb. 25, 2018.
Scouting Florida
- The Gators (2-0) are coming off a 15-14 victory at defending national champions Maryland last Saturday, as they snapped an 86-game home winning for the Terrapins which dated back to 2012.
- It was also Florida's first win over the top team in the IWLCA rankings since April 12, 2012.
- Jr. M Shannon Kavanagh scored a career-high eight goals, including the game winner with 49 seconds left. A 2019 second team IWLCA All-American, she leads DI with 12 goals overall on the year.
- Florida went 14-7 (5-0) last season, winning the AAC Championship before falling 15-11 to North Carolina in the second round of the NCAA tournament.
- Kavanagh and Sr. D Kara Trombetta were both named to the 2020 Tewaaraton Award Watch List last week.
Depth on Display
- Eight different Greyhounds accounted for Loyola's 14 goals on Wednesday, with Jillian Wilson (4), Livy Rosenzweig (2), Jr. M Elli Kluegel, Fr. A Emily Wills (2) all scoring multiple times.
- Sr. A Caitlyn Gunn provided a big lift off the bench, as her fourth career goal with 14:52 left in regulation gave Loyola an 8-5 lead and halted a 3-0 Towson run. Gunn's strike began a 5-0 stretch for the Greyhounds to put the game out of reach.
Rosenzweig Moving Up Program Record Book
- Livy Rosenzweig holds school records in single-season points (116) and assists (70) and single-game assists (8).
- She moved up to No. 3 all-time at Loyola in both assists (124) and draw controls (184) during last Saturday's 16-7 victory over Johns Hopkins.
- Rosenzweig is 25 assists away from surpassing Annie Thomas' school-record of 148. She also ranks sixth in Patriot League history, and is seven away from moving past former teammate Hannah Powers into the top five.
- Rosenzweig has recorded points in 43 of 44 collegiate games, including each of the last 36 contests.
Wilson Picks Up Where She Left Off
- Jillian Wilson led all Loyola freshmen with 37 points (29 G, 8 A) in her debut season last spring, and she has supplied four goals and six draw controls in each of Loyola's first two contests in 2020.
- Wilson had three goals during Loyola's decisive 7-0 run which put the home side in front for good against Towson on Wednesday.
Patriot League Weekly Award Winners
- Loyola accounted for three of the Patriot League's five weekly award recipients on Monday, with Katie Detwiler (Defender of the Week), Kaitlyn Larsson (Goalkeeper) and
- Fr. A Emily Wills (Attacker) all taking home accolades after last weekend's 16-7 win over Johns Hopkins.
- Detwiler limited 2020 Tewaaraton Watch List candidate Maggie Schneidereith (48 G, 29 A in 2019) to a single goal while also contributing three draw controls, two ground balls and one caused turnover. She receives her second-career weekly honor.
- Larsson matched a career-high with 12 saves in her first collegiate start, limiting Hopkins to its fewest goals total since April 13, 2018. She is now 5-0 overall at Loyola after Wednesday's win over Towson.
- Wills recorded three goals and a pair of assists in her collegiate debut, and she added two more goals in Wednesday's victory.

- The Greyhounds are projected to top the Patriot League standings for a seventh-consecutive season since joining the conference prior to the 2014 campaign.
- Loyola went 16-5 (9-0) last spring, winning its fourth Patriot League postseason championship in six seasons and advancing to the NCAA tournament for an eighth time in the last nine years.
