2019-20 CoSIDA Academic All-District Women's At-Large Teams

BALTIMORE – The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) released its 2019-20 Academic All-District at-large teams on Thursday afternoon, with Loyola University Maryland senior women's swimmer Anne Hayburn and junior women's lacrosse midfielder Elli Kluegel among those recognized in District 2.

The Academic All-District teams honor the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. District 2 is made up of all Division I institutions within the states of Maryland, Delaware, Kentucky, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.

The at-large division includes student-athletes from the sports of beach volleyball, bowling, rowing, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis and water polo. Hayburn and Kluegel were selected along with 12 other honorees from a group of over 100 worthy nominees in the district, with both receiving the award for a second-consecutive year.

Hayburn (Bowie, Md./St. Mary's) graduated with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average as an accounting major and information systems minor. She was recently one of 42 winter sport student-athletes from across the three divisions to be awarded a $10,000 NCAA postgraduate scholarship, and she will continue her education at Loyola next year working towards a master's degree in accounting. 

Hayburn was a three-time individual and 11-time relay scorer at the Patriot League championships, earning a bronze medal on Loyola's 200 medley relay in 2018. She was also Vice President of the Student-Athlete Advisory committee, a student government representative for athletics, a member of the Greyhound Leadership Academy and actively involved in several community service endeavors around Baltimore.

Kluegel (Fairfax, Va./Robinson) also maintains a perfect 4.0 GPA as a biology major and business administration minor. She totaled 15 goals and three assists in Loyola's shortened 2020 season, contributing heavily to a team which was ranked No. 3 in the country and finished with a 5-0 record overall (4-0 against nationally-ranked opposition). Last year, Kluegel supplied 40 points (35 G, 5 A) during the Greyhounds' run to a fourth Patriot League championship in six seasons. She has earned starts in 46 of 47 career appearances and will enter next year with 79 goals, nine assists and 42 ground balls.

Off the field, Kluegel is an active member of SAAC, the Greyhound Leadership Academy and the Pre-Health Society. A Presidential Scholarship recipient, she is also part of the Omicron Delta Kappa, Alpha Sigma Nu and Phi Beta Kappa honor societies. 

Both Hayburn and Kluegel are now eligible for Academic All-America consideration, with national winners announced in mid-June. Patriot League individuals accounted for five of the 14 women's at-large honorees from District 2, with the Loyola duo joined by Morgan Frazier (golf) and Jamie Miller (swimming) from Navy and Amanda Boyer (field hockey) from Lehigh.
