Women’s Lacrosse Alum Spotlight – Stacey Morlang Sullivan ’02

Stacey Morlang Sullivan graduated from Loyola in 2002, and she was inducted into the school's Athletics Hall of Fame 14 years later. A three-time All-American, she led the Greyhounds to back-to-back national semifinal appearances in 2000 and 2001, and continues to hold the NCAA Division I record for most goals scored in a game after totaling 12 against American during her senior season.

A native of Australia, Stacey has represented her country at three Senior World Cups, and she recently served as co-coach of the Australian U-19 team with Loyola head coach Jen Adams. After serving as an assistant coach at Loyola following graduation, she moved back to her hometown of Melbourne, Australia, where she married former Loyola men's lacrosse All-American Mike Sullivan. The couple has three sons, Raff, Jarvie and Mack.

Morlang Sullivan currently serves as Director for the Show + Tell women's lifestyle brand. Learn more about some of her favorite Loyola memories below!

What is your favorite place on campus?

ALWAYS in the locker room as a player...and when I visit these days, it's standing on Diane Geppi-Aikens field.

Who was your most impactful Professor?

Ms. Keane, she was a criminologist and professor. She was the coolest and made learning so fun. She is why I chose to be a sociology major.

What was your favorite class?

Criminology, are you shocked? HA!

Jersey # & why?

14 - I arrived on campus in January so my usual number 21 was taken. But now, 14 is the most important number in my life.

What is your favorite ever Loyola issued apparel item?

ALWAYS sweatshirts.

Who was the hardest working teammate you played with?

I'd have to choose two...Stephanie Sweet and Suzanne Eyler. They both had the ability to ignore everything around them and just grind it out. They made everyone around them better. There were no excuses and they always did the extra work and pushed themselves and everyone harder, every day.

Who was the funniest teammate you ever had?

Kristin Hagert - the funniest human alive but always in secret. HA!

If you could replay one game that you won all over again, which would it be and why?

Beating Duke in 2001. We were MASSIVE underdogs. It was round two of the NCAA tournament. We won 7-6 and went to the Final Four. The entire lacrosse community was in shock. But we weren't. Ha!

What is your favorite memento/item that you have kept from your time in college?

A sweatshirt that was given to me when I first arrived on campus. It's ragged, old, and dingy but AWESOME! It reminds me of my first day on campus and how exciting yet overwhelming it was.

Who is your favorite player to watch on the current team?

Yikes, it sure is hard to pick one. I LOVE watching Jillian and Elli...the grunt, the guts, and hard work are awesome to watch. I'm also a HUGE fan of Livy and Shay.
