Laura Salmerón scored 15 points to lead four Loyola University Maryland players in double figures, and
Charia Roberts made several key plays late in the fourth quarter and overtime of a 68-59 victory for the Greyhounds over Fairleigh Dickinson on Sunday.
Loyola (1-2) earns its first win under new head coach

Lex Therien (10 points, 11 rebounds, four steals) recorded her first collegiate double-double, while
Taleah Dixon (14 points) and
Bri Rozzi (12 points, five rebounds) also finished in double figures for the Greyhounds.
The Knights (0-2) scored the first nine points of the fourth quarter after the two sides entered the frame tied at 42-42. It was 53-45, FDU, when a Therien 3-point play with 4:10 remaining began an extended 10-0 run for home side. Three points from Dixon and a pair of Rozzi free throws tied the score at 53-53, and Roberts converted on a tough shot inside to put Loyola in front with 7.8 seconds left.
FDU responded on the other end, as Madison Stanley found space in front and hit a layup to send the Greyhounds to their first overtime game since Jan. 11, 2020 at Lafayette.
Loyola never trailed in the extra session. Salmerón hit a go-ahead jumper on the first possession, and Roberts followed with a 3-point play to give Loyola a 60-55 advantage. It was still a five-point lead for the Greyhounds with 1:22 remaining when Roberts drew a key offensive foul on FDU. Salmerón followed with two free throws on the other end to make it a three-possession game, and the Knights could get no closer the rest of the way.
The Greyhounds shot 45.3 percent from the floor and 78.3 percent (18 for 23) from the free throw line, while the visitors were limited to 36.7 percent shooting overall.
Dahomée Forgues led all scorers with 21 points (8-16 FG, 3-5 3FG) for the Knights. Chloe Wilson added 14 points before fouling out on Roberts' drawn charge late in overtime.
Loyola's win was its first in overtime since Jan. 2, 2017 at Lafayette. The Greyhounds will look to make it two in a row at Reitz Arena on Wednesday, when they host UMBC at 7 p.m.
