2022 Schedule

BALTIMORE – The 2022 Loyola University Maryland women's lacrosse schedule will get underway with a trip to Charles Street rivals Johns Hopkins on Saturday, Feb. 19, as the Greyhounds' full 17-game slate was revealed on Tuesday.

The first of eight games at Ridley Athletic Complex will take place four days later when Loyola hosts Towson on Feb. 23. The Greyhounds are coming off a 2021 campaign in which they finished 12-3, won their fifth Patriot League Championship and advanced to the NCAA tournament for a ninth time in the last 10 completed seasons. Loyola was listed No. 9 in the final IWLCA Coaches' poll, the eighth time in 11 years that the program has earned a top 10 end-of-season ranking under head coach Jen Adams.

The Greyhounds will have another challenging eight-game non-conference schedule, as all eight programs have reached at least one NCAA tournament in the last three years. Loyola's first two opponents, Johns Hopkins and Towson, were both at-large qualifiers last spring.

An eight-game slate in March starts with a trip to Penn (3/2). Loyola topped the Quakers by a 19-15 final in the last of five games during the shortened 2020 season; Penn qualified for the NCAA tournament in its last full season of competition in 2019.

Other home non-conference games include Penn State (3/5), Florida (3/12) and Princeton (3/23). The Greyhounds topped Florida, which advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals last spring, by a 17-6 final during the last meeting in Gainesville on Feb. 22, 2020, and they earned a 22-12 win at Penn State the following week. Princeton will be competing in its first full season since reaching the 2019 NCAA quarterfinals.

Loyola travels to 2019 NCAA participant Georgetown on March 9 and concludes its non-conference slate with a 2021 NCAA tournament rematch at Syracuse on March 29. The Orange eliminated the Greyhounds in the second round last spring, ultimately finishing as the national runner-up to Boston College. 

The Greyhounds begin their nine-game Patriot League schedule with a trip to Lehigh on March 19, while they are set to host Boston University in their home conference opener on March 26. Loyola is a perfect 57-0 against Patriot League opponents in regular season play since joining the conference, and the program has won 5 of 7 Patriot League tournaments during that span.

Road conference games include matchups at Holy Cross (4/2), American (4/13), Army West Point (4/16) and Lafayette (4/23). The Greyhounds will also host Colgate (4/9), Bucknell (4/20) and Navy (4/28) at Ridley, with the contest against the Mids wrapping up regular season play.

The 2022 Patriot League Final Four will once again be hosted by the regular-season champion, with the semifinals taking place on Thursday, May 5, and the championship game on Saturday, May 7. The two quarterfinal games will be held by the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds on Sunday, May 1; the winner of the Patriot League tournament claims the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
