BALTIMORE – USA Lacrosse Magazine Released its Preseason All-Americans for the 2022 season this week, with Loyola University Maryland's
Katie Detwiler and
Livy Rosenzweig both recognized on the second team.
A total of 39 standouts from across Division I were honored by the magazine. Loyola was one of just nine programs to have multiple Preseason All-America selections.
Both Rosenzweig and Detwiler were named IWLCA Second Team All-Americans last spring after helping the Greyhounds win their fifth Patriot League Championship and return to the NCAA tournament for a ninth time in the last 10 seasons. Rosenzweig was the Patriot League's Attacker of the Year, while Detwiler took home Defensive Player of the Year accolades.
A two-time Tewaaraton Award Top 25 semifinalist, Rosenzweig enters her fifth season with the program ranked No. 1 all-time in both points (328, 144 G, 184 A) and assists, and she is also the Patriot League's career assist leader. She ranked second nationally in assists per game (3.33) last season, and is 48 points away from becoming the Patriot League's all-time scoring leader. Rosenzweig is also a force in the circle for the Greyhounds, as her 285 career draw controls are the third most in team history.
Detwiler has also been named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List in each of the past two seasons. Loyola's top matchup defender, she shutdown several other watch list candidates during a 12-game winning streak for the Greyhounds last spring. For the year, Loyola limited opponents to single-digit scoring in 10 of 15 games and ranked sixth nationally in scoring defense (8.60 goals per game). Detwiler has started all 41 games in her collegiate career, totaling 54 ground balls, 28 caused turnovers and 64 draws in her first three seasons.
Rosenzweig and Detwiler were both invited to U.S. National Team tryouts for the 2022 World Championships over the summer. They were also previously included on Inside Lacrosse's Top 50 Players (men and women) for the 2022 season, with Rosenzweig ranked No. 22 and Detwiler ranked No. 37 nationally.
The Greyhounds begin their 2022 campaign at Johns Hopkins on Feb. 19, while their home opener at Ridley Athletic Complex is set for Feb. 23 against Towson.
