- Sam Fiedler registered her 15th career hat trick after totaling three goals for the Greyhounds, who suffered their first setback since the 2019 NCAA tournament.
- Fiedler's first goal tied the score at 1-1 with 21:48 left in the opening half, but Syracuse took control with a 12-2 run over the following 31 minutes of game action.

Series History
- Loyola leads 35-13 in a series which dates back to the Greyhounds' inaugural season in 1973.
- The Greyhounds have won six of the last eight meetings overall, including a 14-10 home triumph on Feb. 19 last season. Trailing 2-0 with 8:39 left in the first half, a Livy Rosenzweig goal began a 12-3 Greyhound run over the next 32 minutes of game action.
- Rosenzweig had a team-high five points (2 G, 3 A), while Jillian Wilson contributed four goals and six draw controls.
- Towson's last win in the series was a 15-8 home victory on Feb. 26, 2017.
Scouting Towson
- The Tigers have defeated Mount St. Mary's (10-7) and UMBC (12-5) in their first two matchups this season.
- Towson finished with a an abbreviated record of 2-4 in 2020, ending the year with a 21-14 victory over Ohio State on March 10.
- Gr. D Sami Chenoweth was a third team IWLCA All-America selection in 2019 after leading the nation with 64 caused turnovers. Chenoweth was also an ILWomen third team Preseason All-America honoree this season.
- Chenoweth, So. M Blair Pearre and Gr. M Shelby Stack were all Preseason All-CAA selections.
- As a team, the Tigers were 20th nationally in caused turnovers per game (10.2) in 2020, and they led the CAA in assists per game (5.3).
Quick Notes from Syracuse
- Catie Corolla netted her first collegiate goal in the second half, taking a feed from Livy Rosenzweig and beating Syracuse goalie Asa Goldstock with 14:53 left in regulation.
- With her two assists, Rosenzweig moved up to No. 7 in program history in career points (247), passing Andi Holthaus '87.
- Elli Kluegel matched a career-high with three ground balls, while Meaghan Quinn set a new career best with two caused turnovers.
- Rosenzweig totaled a team-high seven draw controls. She was held without a goal for only the third time in her Loyola career.

On the Road Again
- As it begins its five-game road schedule for 2021, Loyola will be looking to replicate its 2020 success away from Ridley Athletic Complex.
- The Greyhounds were 3-0 on the road last season, scoring an average of 19.3 goals per game while defeating three ranked opponents.
- Loyola was leading or tied with its opponent in 173:45 out of 180 minutes in its three road contests last spring, trailing for just 6:15 of game action.
Preseason Accolades
- Loyola topped the Patriot League preseason poll for an eighth-consecutive season, with the Greyhounds receiving 162 points and all 18 available first-place votes.
- Livy Rosenzweig was named Patriot League Preseason Offensive Player of the Year for a second time (previously in 2019), while Katie Detwiler earned Preseason Defensive Player of the Year accolades.
- Rosenzweig, Detwiler, Sam Fiedler, Elli Kluegel and Jillian Wilson were all Preseason All-Patriot League selections.
- Rosenzweig and Detwiler were two of US Lacrosse's 13 First Team Preseason All-Americans announced in December.

Rosenzweig Milestone Watch
- Livy Rosenzweig has totaled 136 assists in 48 collegiate games, a total which is No. 2 all-time at Loyola (12 back of 2015 graduate Annie Thomas) and fourth all-time in the Patriot League (41 behind Navy's Kelly Larkin).
- Rosenzweig is also No. 7 all-time at Loyola in points (247). She is 30 back of Marlee Paton '14 in 6th and 70 behind former teammate Hannah Powers '19 for the top spot.
- In the 2020 finale, Rosenzweig became the third Greyhound to reach 200 career draw controls. Her 208 draws are behind only sisters Taylor VanThof '19 (392) and Taryn VanThof '15 (318).
Condensed Schedule Includes Seven Games at Ridley
- In response to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, Loyola and the Patriot League have instituted several changes to the 2021 lacrosse schedule.
- Consistent with the prioritization of health and safety, the 12-game schedule features reductions in travel and overnight stays. Loyola has five non-conference opponents currently on the schedule, with three taking place at Ridley Athletic Complex and the other two short trips to Towson and Villanova.
- The Patriot League is split into two five-team divisions, with Loyola grouped in the South with American, Bucknell, Lehigh and Navy.
- The top two teams in each division advance to the PL tournament, with semifinal games set for May 6 and the championship scheduled for May 8.
Fiedler Looks to Continue Offensive Surge
- Sam Fiedler was on a roll offensively at the time of last season's cancellation, totaling a team-high 20 points (16 G, 4 A) in Loyola's final three contests.
- With her five goals in the 2020 finale at Penn, she became the 31st player in team history to reach 100 for her collegiate career. Fiedler has 105 goals in 48 games at Loyola, and she has scored at least one goal in 39-straight contests.
- Fiedler was selected as the US Lacrosse Player of the Week on Feb. 24 last season after setting career-highs in both goals (7) and points (8) during Loyola's 17-6 victory at No. 4 Florida.
Larsson Returns Between the Pipes
- Kaitlyn Larsson made the most of her first five collegiate starts in goal last season, as she finished a perfect 5-0 with 53 saves, a .525 save percentage (9th in Division I) and a 9.78 goals-against average.
- Larsson made double-digit saves in four of Loyola's victories, matching a career-high with 12 in wins over Johns Hopkins (2/15) and Penn (3/7).
- Larsson has a career record of 8-1, including a 7-1 mark vs. ranked teams.
More Rosenzweig Notes
- Livy Rosenzweig became the first Greyhound to earn IWLCA first team All-America accolades since 2012 following a 2019 season in which she broke program records in both points (116) and assists (70).
- She ranked third in Division I in assists, and she was fourth nationally in points that season. She also helped Loyola lead DI as a team in both total assists (197) and assists per game (9.38).
- Rosenzweig has totaled 5+ points in 31 of 48 collegiate games, including 4 of 5 contests in 2020. She has recorded multiple points in 47 of 48 appearances.
Kluegel Excels On, Off Field
- Senior Elli Kluegel was named to the Preseason All-Patriot League Team for a second-consecutive season on Feb. 4. Her 15 goals ranked third on the team in 2020, and she enters this season with 80 goals in 48 career appearances.
- Off the field, Kluegel continues to maintain a perfect 4.0 GPA while majoring in biology. A two-time COSIDA Academic All-District honoree, she was also an Academic All-Patriot League selection in 2019.
Wills Hopes to Build on Strong Freshman Campaign
- Emily Wills burst onto the scene during her debut collegiate season last spring, totaling 21 points (12 G, 9 A) while leading the Patriot League and ranking fifth nationally in shot percentage (.706).
- One of two Loyola freshmen, along with Sydney Foster, to start all five games, Wills was named PL Rookie of the Week after collecting three goals and two assists in her Greyhounds debut vs. Johns Hopkins.
- She would add both PL Attacker and Rookie of the Week honors after managing a season-high eight points (3 G, 5 A) in the finale at Penn.
Fifth Year Returnees
- Two Loyola players are taking advantage of the extra year of eligibility granted by the NCAA following the shortened 2020 season, as Holly Lloyd and Meaghan Quinn both return for the Greyhounds this spring.
- Lloyd started all five games on attack for the Greyhounds last season, while Quinn was a key contributor on the backline, earning her first three collegiate starts to conclude the year.
- Caitlyn Gunn, who was already set to return this season after taking a medical redshirt in 2018, is also back as a graduate student after totaling three goals and two assists in a reserve attack role last spring.
Patriot League Dominance
- Loyola is 52-0 against Patriot League opponents in regular season play since joining the conference. That run is the longest active win streak in Division I.
- The NCAA record for consecutive conference wins is a 61-game streak by UMass in Atlantic 10 play which began in 2011 and ended on April 22, 2018.
- The Greyhounds claimed PL championships in each of their first three years in the conference (2014-16), and added a fourth postseason title in 2019.
Strong Debut for Clevenger
- Shay Clevenger joined Loyola as a transfer in 2020 after spending her freshman season at Louisville, and the Woodstock, Md., native quickly made herself at home with the Greyhounds.
- Clevenger led the Patriot League and ranked 22nd nationally with 3.2 ground balls per game. She had 16 ground balls overall and was also tied for the team lead with seven caused turnovers.
- Clevenger was honored as PL Defender of the Week after picking up a career-high six ground balls and causing two turnovers in the season finale at Penn

Looking Ahead
- Loyola is back at Ridley for another top-10 matchup on Sunday, as the Greyhounds host #6 Florida at 1 p.m.
- Loyola topped the then-No. 4 Gators by a 17-6 final when the teams met in Gainesville on Feb. 22 last season.
