Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Rosenzweig, Fiedler Power No. 14 Women’s Lacrosse to 18-6 Victory at Villanova

VILLANOVA, Pa. – Livy Rosenzweig matched a career-high with nine points, including a career-best six goals, and Sam Fiedler added seven points in an 18-6 win for No. 14 Loyola University Maryland women's lacrosse at Villanova on Wednesday.

Five of Rosenzweig's goals came in the second half, as the Greyhounds (1-2) outscored the Wildcats (1-2) by a 9-1 margin to break open what had been a four-goal game at the intermission. Jillian Wilson contributed a career-high five points (2 G, 3 A) and four draw controls, while Elli Kluegel totaled two goals, two assists, a career-high five ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Rosenzweig was goalless in Loyola's first two games this season, but she quickly opened the scoring 85 seconds in this afternoon. That strike began a 5-0 run to begin the game, with five different Greyhounds (Rosenzweig, Kluegel, Emily Wills, Liz Scott, Fiedler) finding the back of the net.

The offense briefly stalled over the following 15 minutes, as Villanova scored three-straight to pull within 5-3. Wilson's first strike of the contest ended the drought with 6:11 left in the half, and two goals from Fiedler paired with another from Kluegel had the Greyhounds up to a 9-5 advantage heading into the break.

Rosenzweig scored four times in the first eight minutes of the second half to put the game out of reach. It was ultimately a 7-0 run for Loyola to begin the frame, with the Wildcats' lone second-half strike not coming until there was just 6:05 left in regulation.

Fiedler finished with five goals and a pair of assists, as her seven points were one shy of last year's career-high established in a victory at Florida. She is up to 13 points (11 G, 2 A) through the season's first three matchups.

Holly Lloyd matched a career-best with three assists in the victory, while Scott won a career-high four draws in her first collegiate start. Emily Beier rounded out the scoring with her first goal of the season in the closing seconds.

Kaitlyn Larsson played the first 54:57 minutes in goal, making eight saves before Amber Bustard came on to finish out the contest. Loyola had an overall advantage of 30-23 in shots, including a 26-14 edge in shots on goal.

The Greyhounds return to Ridley Athletic Complex on Saturday, hosting American at 12 p.m. in the Patriot League opener for both sides.
