Four Greyhounds Earn Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Awards

Katie Detwiler, Livy Rosenzweig, Kaitlyn Larsson and Sam Fiedler
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The Patriot League released its weekly awards for women's lacrosse on Monday, with Loyola University Maryland accounting for four of the five honorees after a dominant 2-0 week.

Livy Rosenzweig (Attacker), Katie Detwiler (Defender), Kaitlyn Larsson (Goalkeeper) and Sam Fiedler (Midfielder) were all recognized after helping the Greyhounds defeat Villanova and American by a combined margin of 39-10. Loyola topped the Wildcats by a 18-6 margin on Wednesday, and defeated the Eagles 21-4 in the Patriot League opener for both teams over the weekend. The Greyhounds led 15-3 at the break, scoring their most goals in a half since April, 2017

Rosenzweig was Loyola's scoring leader in the two victories, totaling 10 goals, six assists and seven draw controls overall. She recorded her fourth career nine-point game at Villanova, contributing a career-high six goals to go along with three assists. Five of those goals came during a 7-0 Loyola run to begin the second half, as the Greyhounds broke open what had been a 9-5 game at the intermission. She then recorded six of her game-high seven points (4 G, 3 A) in the opening half of Loyola's win on Saturday.

Detwiler led a defensive unit which allowed only 10 goals last week. Matched up against American's Emma Vinall on Saturday, an ILWomen honorable mention Preseason All-American and the NCAA leader in goals scored last season, she limited Vinall to no goals and just one assist. That snapped a 17-game goal scoring streak for Vinall which dated back to March, 2019. She also won a career-high seven draws on Saturday, helping Loyola control possession with a 19-8 overall edge in that category.

Larsson finished the week with 14 saves, a 5.22 goals-against average and a .583 save percentage. She matched a season-high with eight saves at Villanova, and added six more stops against American to improve her lifetime record to 10-2. Larsson surrendered just two goals in the second half last week, and has held opponents to 10 goals or fewer in six of her nine career collegiate starts.

Fiedler totaled 11 points (8 G, 3 A) in the victories. She registered seven points (5 G, 2 A) at Villanova, finishing one point shy of her career high, and she added four points (3 G, 1 A), three ground balls and a career-high three caused turnovers vs. American. Fiedler has scored 3+ goals in seven-straight games dating back to last season, and she leads the Greyhounds with 14 goals through the first four games of 2021.

Loyola, which is 14th in the latest IWLCA Coaches' Poll released this afternoon, returns to action on Wednesday night, hosting Georgetown in a non-conference matchup at 7 p.m.
