BALTIMORE –
Livy Rosenzweig finished with a team-high six points and eight draw controls, six Greyhounds scored multiple goals and
Amber Bustard made key saves off the bench to help No. 13 Loyola University Maryland pull out a 15-11 victory over Lehigh on Saturday.
The Greyhounds (7-2 overall, 4-0 PL, 4-0 South) saw a five-goal advantage shrink down to one with under 12 minutes left in regulation, but scored four of the game's final six goals to pick up their seventh-consecutive victory and clinch the top spot in the Patriot League South division standings. The Mountain Hawks (4-3 overall, 3-1 PL, 2-1 South) saw a four-game winning run come to an end.
Lehigh held a 4-2 lead near the midway point of the opening half, when a
Holly Lloyd strike began a 5-0 run for the home side. That stretch was capped by back-to-back goals from
Emily Wills, who scored three times overall in the first half while recording her third hat trick of the season.
After a Lehigh tally halted the run,
Jillian Wilson,
Sam Fiedler and Rosenzweig rattled off three-straight goals to give Loyola its largest lead at 10-5. The margin was ultimately 10-6 heading into the intermission.
The Mountain Hawks scored the first three goals of the second half, with Emma Eberhardt making it a 10-9 contest with 11:42 left on the clock. Rosenzweig responded less than a minute later, and back-to-back goals from Fiedler (6:21) and
Caitlyn Gunn (6:06) 15 seconds apart gave Loyola some breathing room heading into the final minutes.
Rosenzweig's six points came from a pair of goals and four assists, as she improved her team-leading point total to 51 (21 G, 30 A) on the year. Wilson also once again filled up the stat sheet with two goals, one assist, five draws, a team-high four ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Bustard came on in relief of
Kaitlyn Larsson with 22:02 left in regulation, and she made two saves down the stretch to record her first collegiate win in goal.
Fiedler,
Elli Kluegel (2 G, 1 A) and Gunn all scored twice in the victory. Gunn's final tally came after Lehigh had pulled back within 13-11 with 2:46 remaining. She caused a turnover on the ensuing draw control and scored on the following possession to seal the win with 1:06 left.
Catie Corolla rounded out the scoring in the closing seconds.
The Greyhounds are back on the road next Saturday, traveling to American for a matchup beginning at 12 p.m.
