The U.S. Military Academy defeated the Loyola University Maryland women's tennis team, 4-0, on Friday evening, concluding the Greyhounds' season in the quarterfinal round of the Patriot League Championships.
The Black Knights won all three doubles matches as Stephanie Dolehide and Caroline Vincent beat
Kateri Martin and
Abigail Thornton, 6-1, at No. 1, and Sam DiMaio and Ana Joyner topped
Anna Rico and
Olivia Tracey, 6-2, at No. 2. Paola Bou and Justine Dondonay then defetaed
Brooke Santoriello and
Genevieve Wurtz, 6-0 at No. 3.
With the 1-0 lead, Army West Point used victories in three singles matches to close out the contest.
Dondonay beat
Abby Decker, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 5, and Dolehide was a 6-2, 6-0 winner over Thornton at No. 2. Vincent closed the match with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Tracey at No. 3.
Three matches were left unfinished when the team score was decided. Joyner led Martin, 6-2, 3-3 at No. 1, and Bou was up 6-3, 3-2 at No. 4 against Rico. Carolyn Ahn led Santoriello, 6-1, 4-3, at No. 6.
