Men’s Soccer Picks Up Key 2-0 Road Win at Navy

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Albert Kang scored his first collegiate goal 14:57 into the first half, and Justin Ingram doubled the advantage from the penalty spot in the 79th minute to send Loyola University Maryland past Navy by a 2-0 final on Wednesday night.

The victory moves the Greyhounds (2-1-1 PL, 2-1 South) into a three-way tie with the Midshipmen (3-1, 2-1) and American (2-1-1, 2-1) for first place in the Patriot League South division standings with one game left in the regular season. Loyola travels to Bucknell on Saturday while Navy heads to American, with the top two teams in the division qualifying for this year's Patriot League tournament.

Chase Vosvick made three saves in goal to secure his first shutout this season and 20th overall at Loyola.

Sam Brown and Ingram set up Kang's opener, as Brown fed the ball back to Ingram on the left side. Ingram then found Kang near the top of the box, and he ripped a shot into the top corner to give the Greyhounds an early lead. Brown (2 G, 2 A) has now factored in four of Loyola's six goals this spring.

Vosvick was required to make his first save less than a minute after, and he made another stop on Navy's Joe Alex in the 19th minute, getting enough of the ball to force it off the post and away from danger.

After Kelan Swales had a shot rattle off the cross bar in the 52nd minute, it was Loc San who drew the penalty for Loyola with 11:17 remaining in regulation. That brought Ingram to the penalty spot, where he tucked an attempt into the left corner for his second goal of the spring.

Navy had just two shot attempts the rest of the way, one of which was sent wide while the other was saved by Vosvick. Shots overall were 10-9 in favor of the Mids.

The Greyhounds now turn their attention to Bucknell, with Saturday's regular season finale set to begin at 7 p.m. in Lewisburg, Pa.
