BALTIMORE – ILWomen and US Lacrosse Magazine released their Division I All-Americans for the 2021 season this week, with Loyola University Maryland's
Livy Rosenzweig and
Katie Detwiler each recognized by both media outlets.
Rosenzweig was selected as a second team ILWomen All-American and a third team US Lacrosse All-American, while Detwiler was an honorable mention choice by ILWomen and a third team honoree by US Lacrosse.
The Greyhounds finished the 2021 season with a final record of 12-3, claiming their fifth Patriot League championship in the last seven completed seasons and winning an NCAA tournament game for an eighth time in the last 10 years.
Rosenzweig receives All-American accolades from ILWomen for a fourth time in as many seasons, as she was a first team honoree in 2020 after making the third team in her first two years at Loyola. She led the Patriot League in both points (83, 33 G, 50 A) and assists, and also paced the Greyhounds with 84 draw controls. She had multiple points in all 15 games, matching a season best with nine-point efforts against Villanova and Drexel, while becoming Loyola's all-time scoring leader (328 points) and the Patriot League's career assist leader (184).
Detwiler was previously a first team ILWomen All-American following the abbreviated 2020 season last spring. She started all 15 games this spring, anchoring a backline which surrendered single-digit goals in 10 of 12 victories on the year. Frequently matched up the opposition's top attacking threats, she totaled 20 ground balls, 12 caused turnovers and ranked third on the team in draw controls (41). Detwiler had a career-high six ground balls, the most by a Loyola player this season, during the Greyhounds' 11-6 victory over Lehigh in the Patriot League Championship game.
Rosenzweig and Detwiler were also honored earlier this week as first team IWLCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region selections, where they were joined by teammates
Sam Fiedler (first team) and
Kaitlyn Larsson (second team). The IWLCA will release its 2021 All-Americans in June following the conclusion of the NCAA tournament.
