The Matchup
- Loyola women's lacrosse, which is hosting the Patriot League Final Four for a seventh time in as many seasons, begins its quest for a fifth tournament championship with Thursday's semifinal matchup against Colgate.
- The Greyhounds (9-2) enter on a nine-game winning streak, the program's longest since a 16-game run in 2015. They are ranked No. 9 in the IWLCA Coaches' and No. 11 in the ILWomen media polls.
- Colgate (5-5) advanced to the semifinals following a 15-13 victory over Boston University in Monday's quarterfinal round. The teams previously met in the 2019 semis, with Loyola topping the Raiders by a 20-12 final at Ridley.
- North division No. 1 seed Army West Point (5-3) will face South No. 2 Lehigh (8-3) in Thursday's other semifinal at 7 p.m.
Last Time Out
- Elli Kluegel became the 32nd player in program history to reach 100 career goals, and Jillian Wilson scored a career-high five times during a 17-6 victory for Loyola over Furman on April 25.
- Livy Rosenzweig added five points (1 G, 4 A) and nine draws for Loyola, which halted an eight-game winning streak for the visiting Paladins (11-4).
- All five of Wilson's goals came in the first half, as Loyola raced out to a 12-2 lead during the opening 30 minutes. She also added a team-high three caused turnovers, three ground balls and four draw controls.
- Kluegel's milestone marker came with 14:09 left on the last of her five goals for the afternoon. That matched a career-high, while her six points were a new career best.
Patriot League Tournament History
- The Greyhounds are 10-2 all-time in Patriot League tournament play, winning championships in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2019.
- Loyola's only two defeats came against Navy in the 2017 and 2018 championship games. Including regular season contests, the Greyhounds are 67-2 against Patriot League opponents since joining the conference in 2014.
- Loyola won its most-recent title with a 21-9 victory over Navy in the 2019 final. Tournament MVP Hannah Powers set championship records for goals (6) and points (9) while Livy Rosenzweig supplied two goals and six assists
Series History
- Loyola leads 9-0 in a series which dates back to 1981.
- The Greyhounds are 7-0 against Colgate since joining the Patriot League, with the closest contest during that span an 11-6 road win on April 2, 2016.
- This will be the second PL tournament meeting between the two sides. Hannah Powers (8 G, 1 A) and Livy Rosenzweig (4 G, 4 A) led the offense in Loyola's 20-12 semifinal victory in 2019.
Scouting Colgate
- The Raiders, who finished second in the Patriot League's North division standings, snapped a four-game losing streak with their 15-13 win over Boston U on Monday. The last of a season-high five goals for Fr. M Eliza Farriss broke a 13-13 tie with 6:25 remaining.
- Colgate faced two South division opponents in the regular season, falling 13-11 to Bucknell and 12-5 to Navy on back-to-back weekends in April.
- Fr. GK Amelia Cunningham, the Patriot League's Rookie of the Year, leads the conference in saves (87) and is ranked fourth in both GAA (11.13) and save percentage (.442).
- Colgate leads the conference and is ranked 13th nationally in draw controls per game (15.6). Individual leaders are So. M Cara O'Reilly (58, 5.8/gm) and Gr. M Noelle Patterson (38, 3.8/gm).
Rosenzweig Named Top-25 Semifinalist
- For the second time in her Loyola career, Livy Rosenzweig is a Top-25 semifinalist for the women's lacrosse Tewaaraton Award.
- The award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. Rosenzweig leads the Greyhounds with 61 points (24 G, 37 A), and she has totaled 5+ points in every contest during Loyola's winning streak.
- Now at 306 career points, she is 12 away from surpassing former teammate Hannah Powers for Loyola's all-time record. Her 171 career assists are also a team record, and she is only seven assists away from becoming the Patriot League's all-time leader.
- In addition to her offensive prowess, Rosenzweig ranks third in team history with 265 career draw controls. She has won a team-high 64 draws this season (5.8/gm).
Fan Policy
- In accordance with Baltimore City guidelines, attendance at Loyola University Maryland athletics events will be capped at 250 spectators. Any spectators must be pre-registered through the home or visiting teams, and no admittance will be given to those not on the appropriate entrance lists.
Quick Notes from Furman
- Loyola won a season-high 19 draws (19-8 overall), led by Livy Rosenzweig (9), Katie Detwiler (6) and Jillian Wilson (4).
- Elli Kluegel (3-4 FPS) became the first Greyhound to score three free position goals since 3/15/18, when she had three in a 19-18 win over No. 8 Virginia.
- Senior Emily Beier (2 G) recorded her first multi-goal game in her 47th collegiate appearance.
- Meaghan Quinn matched Wilson for the team lead with three ground balls, and she held Furman's leading scorer Kyra LaMotte (52 G overall) to a single goal on four shots.
- Loyola has outscored opponents by a combined margin of 152-57 during its current nine-game winning streak.
- Loyola is now 18-1 in its last 19 games at Ridley Athletic Complex dating back to the start of the 2019 season.
Rosenzweig, Detwiler, Larsson Win Major PL Awards
- Loyola accounted for three of the six 2021 major award winners announced by the Patriot League on Monday, as Livy Rosenzweig was chosen as the Attacker of the Year, Katie Detwiler was named Defensive Player of the Year and Kaitlyn Larsson took home Goalkeeper of the Year accolades.
- Rosenzweig leads the Patriot League and ranks second nationally in assists per game (3.36) and she is also the conference's overall leader with 61 points (24 G, 37 A). She was previously named Rookie of the Year back in 2018.
- Detwiler was included on the watch list for this year's Tewaaraton Award and has won three PL Defensive POW awards this season. She has been matched up against three fellow watch list candidates during Loyola's winning run, shutting down Drexel's Karson Harris (1 G, 1 A, 3 TO), Navy's Nicole Victory (0 G, 2 A, 3 TO) and Lehigh's Sondra Dickey (3 G, 0 A).
- An ILWomen Second Team Preseason All-American this spring, Larsson leads the conference and ranks sixth nationally in GAA (8.11), and she is 10th nationally in save percentage (.503)
Eight Greyhounds Named All-Patriot League
- Loyola's major award trio also earned First Team All-Patriot League honors, where they were joined by teammates Sam Fiedler, Jillian Wilson and Meaghan Quinn.
- Elli Kluegel and Emily Wills were honored as second team All-Patriot League performers. The Greyhounds' eight all-conference selections were the most in the Patriot League.
- A Tewaaraton Award watch list candidate, Fiedler scored multiple goals in all 10 appearances before suffering a season ending injury on April 16. She totaled 45 points (32 G, 13 A), 14 ground balls, 11 caused turnovers and a .667 shot percentage which is the third highest in Division I.
- Wilson has 3+ points in eight of her last nine appearances, and she has won at least four draws in every game during Loyola's winning streak. She is tied for the team lead in caused turnovers (12), ranks second in draws (48) and is third in both points (36, 20 G, 16 A) and ground balls (16).
- Quinn receives her first-career All-Patriot League recognition in her fifth year with the program. A two-time Defensive POW this spring, she leads the Greyhounds in ground balls per game (2.1, 17 total) and caused turnovers per game (1.3, 10 total) while aiding a backline which has surrendered single-digit goals in seven of the last nine contests.
Eyes on Another NCAA Bid
- A Patriot League championship would clinch Loyola's ninth NCAA tournament appearance in the last 10 years under head coach Jen Adams.
- The Greyhounds were ranked ninth in the most-recent RPI rankings released by the NCAA on Monday.
- Loyola has won at least one NCAA tournament game in seven of its eight appearances under Adams, including runs to the NCAA Quarterfinals in 2011, 2012 and 2015.
- Loyola has made 21 NCAA appearances overall in program history, advancing as far as the NCAA championship game back in 1997.

- Livy Rosenzweig was previously a Tewaaraton Award semifinalist in 2019, when she earned first team IWLCA All-America accolades after setting single-season program records in points (116) and assists (70).
- The Preseason Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year and a US Lacrosse Preseason First Team All-American, Rosenzweig is currently ranked second nationally in assists per game (3.36), and she is 10th in points per game (5.55).

- Kluegel has 27 points (21 G, 6 A) this spring, and will enter the postseason on a nine-game goal scoring streak.
- Off the field, Kluegel continues to maintain a perfect 4.0 GPA while majoring in biology. A two-time COSIDA Academic All-District honoree, she was also an Academic All-Patriot League selection in 2019.
Wills Surging Into Postseason
- Emily Wills, the lone Loyola sophomore to earn All-Patriot League accolades this season, totaled 16 points (11 G, 5 A) in the final four games of the regular season. She recorded back-to-back hat tricks in key division wins over Navy and Lehigh, and added a season-high six points (4 G, 2 A) vs. Bucknell on April 16.
- Wills has 27 points (17 G, 10 A) overall on the year, and she is second on the team with a .607 shot percentage. She has recorded multiple points in eight of her last nine appearances.
Preseason Accolades
- Loyola topped the Patriot League preseason poll for an eighth-consecutive season, with the Greyhounds receiving 162 points and all 18 available first-place votes.
- Livy Rosenzweig was named Patriot League Preseason Offensive Player of the Year for a second time (previously in 2019), while Katie Detwiler earned Preseason Defensive Player of the Year accolades.
- Rosenzweig, Detwiler, Sam Fiedler, Elli Kluegel and Jillian Wilson were all Preseason All-Patriot League selections.
