The Matchup

  • Loyola University Maryland women's basketball plays its second of three-straight road games on Wednesday, January 19, when it heads to Boston, Massachusetts, to face Boston University in a 6 p.m. game.
  • The action will stream live on ESPN+ from Case Gymnasium.

Staying Busy

  • Wednesday's game is the sixth the Greyhounds will play during a 15-day stretch from January 5-19.
  • Moreover, of those seven games during the 15 days, five are on the road.

Last Time Out

  • Holy Cross used a 20-0 run that spanned the late third quarter and first five-plus minutes of the fourth to pull away from Loyola for a 63-48 Patriot League win on Monday night.
  • Loyola took a 35-32 lead with 5:56 to play in the third quarter on a Bri Rozzi three, and the Greyhounds were within three at the end of the stanza, 45-42, before Holy Cross's run.
  • Charia Roberts had a team-high 10 points, including the first four of the second half. Rozzi then had a layup off a Taleah Dixon assist, and Lex Therien's offensive rebound and putback tied the score at 32-32, erasing an eight-point Holy Cross lead at the half. Rozzi then extended the run to 11-0 with her three before the Crusaders would respond with eight-straight points to go up 40-35.
  • Therien kicked out a pass to Keegan Douglas on the left side for a three at 2:31, drawing Loyola back within three, and Dixon drove the right side of the lane to get fouled with 1:47 remaining. She made both free throws, and the game was tied again at 40-40.
  • Holy Cross regained the advantage, 43-40, with a traditional 3-point play by Janelle Allen 16 ticks of the clock later, but Ava Therien grabbed an offensive board and scored at 1:13 to make it a two-point game. That basket, however, marked the last Loyola points until Lex Therien made one of two at the free-throw line with 4:07 to go in regulation.
  • The Greyhounds did not allow a Crusaders point for the last 4:28 of the game, but the 20-0 run had secured the win.
  • In addition to Roberts' 10 points, Lex Therien scored nine and Douglas had eight off the bench.
  • Lex Therien matched her career-high with 15 rebounds, her fifth-straight game with 10 or more boards. Dixon tied her career-best with five assists, a season-high.

  • Lex Therien was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week on January 10 after averaging 18 points and 12.5 rebounds in games against Boston University and Bucknell. The award was her third of the season and fourth this year for Loyola (Laura Salmerón).

First In Over A Decade

  • With her 10-point, 10-rebound game on January 15 against Lehigh, Lex Therien recorded her fourth-straight double-double. She is the first Loyola player to have four in a row in 11 years since Miriam McKenzie did it four games in a row from January 22-30, 2011.
