BALTIMORE – Michaela Virgin, who played in five games during the 2021 season at North Carolina State, has joined the Loyola University Maryland women's soccer program as a midseason transfer, Head Coach Joe Malia announced.
Virgin made five appearances for the Wolfpack as it reached the 2021 NCAA Tournament.
The midfielder saw action in North Carolina State's first two games in a tie against then-No. 9 Georgetown and a win over Old Dominion before making her starting debut on August 26 versus Campbell. She also played later in the year versus then-No. 10 South Carolina and UNC Greensboro.
Virgin was a standout player for the N.C. Courage Academy, including playing on the U17-18 team that finished ranked eighth nationally. She was a member of the Academy's U15, U17 and U19 teams, as well, and she competed in the 2018 and 2019 Showcase Finals in San Diego, as well as in the 2018 and 2019 Spring Showcase events. Her U15 team was crowned the North Carolina State Cup Jeff Cup Champions in 2015.
She was an honor roll student at Apex High School where she graduated from in 2021, and she had a perfect 4.0 grade-point average during her lone semester at North Carolina State.
Virgin is the daughter of Cindy McMorris and Marlin Virgin, and she has one older brother, Ryan.
