BALTIMORE – Loyola University Maryland men's basketball finished with 14 steals and held Stevenson University to 23.1 percent shooting from the field on Tuesday night as the Greyhounds rolled to a 75-38 victory in exhibition play.
Deon Perry led the Greyhounds with 16 points, while
David Brown III had 15, and
Kenneth Jones added 12.
That trio also combined for 12 of the 14 steals the Greyhounds had, each coming away with four.
Jaylin Andrews scored nine, and
Isaiah Alexander added six off the bench including a highlight reel dunk near the end of the first half.
Jones and
Markese Redding led all players with eight rebounds.
Stevenson cut Loyola's lead to five, 14-9, on a Cameron Smith right-wing 3-pointer with just over 10 minutes to play in the first half, but Loyola finished the opening period on a 22-9 run to double-up the Mustangs, 36-18, at the break.
Loyola then turned the 18-point lead into 33 midway through the second on a Perry free throw that made the score 53-20.
The Greyhounds will open the 2022-2023 regular-season on Monday, November 7, with a 6:45 p.m. (CST) game at DePaul University.
