Taleah Dixon had a career day for the Greyhounds, as they kept the game close throughout, getting their deficit down to two points halfway through the fourth quarter. George Mason responded, however, as it ended the game on an 9-3 run for a 66-58 win Saturday afternoon.
The Patriots took a 54-46 lead after they knocked down a three-pointer with 8:54 remaining in the fourth quarter. After a defensive stop on the ensuing possession, the Greyhounds cut their deficit down to six points thanks to a layup from
Lex Therien.
Taleah Dixon followed that up with a jumper to cut it down to four points.
After a three-pointer from the Patriots, Dixon continued her career night as she responded with a three-pointer of her own. Dixon then added a pair of free throws to cut it to a 57-55 deficit with 5:05 left in the fourth quarter.
From there the Greyhounds offense went cold, as they did not score on the next six possessions. The Patriots took advantage, extending their lead after a three-point play. They then added to their lead as they scored on back-to-back possessions as they led by 64-55. The Patriots added a pair of free throws to close out the game, as
Bri Rozzi hit a three-pointer at the buzzer, as the Patriots won 66-58.
Taleah Dixon had a game and career high of 28 points on the afternoon.
Lex Therien added 13 points and 8 rebounds on th.
The Greyhounds will be back on the road on Monday, as they travel to face Bryant on Monday evening. They will then be back in Reitz as they will host Delaware State on November 26th.
