Baltimore, MD -- The Loyola Greyhounds men's soccer team hosted the Bucknell Bison for their regular season finale. After out-shooting the Bison 28-4 and being a man-up for minutes, the Greyhounds failed to find the back of the net as teams drew 0-0. With the tie, Colgate and Navy winning, the Greyhounds failed to secure a spot in the Patriot League Championships.
39 minutes into the first half, the Bison's goalie got a straight red card, after a tough challenge outside of the box where he made contact with a Greyhounds attacker. From there on out, the Bison would be a man down for the rest of the game. The Greyhounds would take advantage of the man-up advantage, as they controlled much of the remainder of the game and had possession in their attacking half for most of the game.
Despite the large portion of possession and the number of shots, the Greyhounds couple not find the back of the net. The Bison's back-up goalie accounted for 6 second half saves.
Kelan Swales,
Danilo Seglio, and
Loc San all had 4 shots in the game. The Greyhounds did have another late chance to pull ahead in the game, as Swales dribbled it into the box, and played a ball across the box, that found San, who hit the shot off of the post as it trickled out of bounds as the time ran out.
The Greyhounds season comes to an abrupt end, as their streak of regular season championships ends and their streak of making the Patriot League Championships comes to a end. The Greyhounds finish the season with the most shots in the Patriot League, but the fewest goals. They also tied for the most ties in conference play with 5 on the season. They also set a new program record with 8 ties this season.
