The Matchup
- The Greyhounds will start the 2022-23 campaign as they host the Niagara Purple Eagles on Monday evening. This will be the 23rd meeting between the two programs, with Niagara winning the last meeting, last year 81-71.

Last Time Out
- The Greyhounds come into the 2022-23 season looking to improve on the 2021-22 season.
- After going 5-24 last year, the Greyhounds see tons of room for improvement.
- The Greyhounds ended the 2021-22 season with a loss to Lafayette in the Patriot League Championships. 

Back in Action
- The Greyhounds are excited to begin the 2022-23 season after an off-season of growth. 
- Coach O'Bannion is excited to see the team perform, especially after the hardwork the team put in during the off-season. 
- She is encouraged about the teams dedication to getting better in the weight room and taking care of their bodies on and off the court. 
- This will be a new-look Greyhounds squad, as they welcome 7 new faces to the team.

Looking Ahead
- The Greyhounds will start the season with a strong non-conference schedule. After hosting the Purple Eagles on Monday, they will travel to fellow Baltimore school Morgan State on November 10th. 
- They will then be back home on November 13th as they host another Baltimore school in UMBC.
- They cap off a 3-game home stand with a game against Monmouth on November 13th, before traveling to face George Mason on November 19th.

Scouting Niagara
- The Purple Eagles will open the season in Reitz Arena. 
- The Purple Eagles were picked to finish in third place in the MAAC, after a semi-final appearance in the conference tournament last year. 
- They were picked just behing Quinnipiac and Manhattan in the preseason poll. 
- Angel Parker and Aaliyah were named to the Preseaon All-MAAC Team. 
-  Angel led the team last year with 17.0 points, 4.9 assists, and 4.0 steals per game. She finished the season 2nd in the country in steals. 
- Aaliyah Parker is the reigning MAAC Rookie of the Year, after averaging 11.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.2 steals and 1.7 assists per game. 
- The Purple Eagles defeated the Greyhounds 81-71 in the season opener last season. 

Therien Named to Patriot League Preseason Team
- Lex Therien has been named to the Patriot League All-Preseason team. 
- The sophomore forward made a big splash her freshman year, as she averaged 12.6 points, 10.9 rebounds, 1.0 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. 
- She finished 9th in the Patriot League in scoring and finished first in rebounds per game. 
- She was named Rookie of the Year and named to the second team All-Conference. 

Key Returners
- Taleah Dixon and Devyne Newman will return to the Greyhounds as 5th year graduate students. 
- Dixon started all 29 games and  was 2nd on the team as she averaged 10.6 points per game, while averaged 2.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists. 
- Newman started in 16 of 27 games played last season, averaging 19.6 minutes per game. 
- She averaged 4.4 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. 
- Emma Glezen, Caramina Tanedo, Laura Salmeron, Bri Rozzi, Ava Therien and Lex Therien cap off the rest of the returners for the Greyhounds.

Worth Noting
- The Greyhounds held 12 opponents to 60 points or less during the 2021-22 season. 
- Lex Therien is the first player to be named to the Preseason All-Conference Team since 2018-19. 
- The Greyhounds team this year features three international players, all coming over from Spain. 
- Coach O'Bannion comes into her second year after seeing a 5-game improvement during her first year with the team. 
- Loyola's 63-57 win over UMBC last year was the program's first victory after trailing by 14+ points in the second half since Feb. 10, 2012 vs. Iona (66-60). 
- Loyola's overtime victory over FDU on Nov. 14 was the program's first overtime game since Jan. 2, 2017 at Lafayette. The Greyhounds are now 3-9 in OT dating back to March 4, 2011.
