Mount St. Mary’s Rallies Late To Edge Women’s Basketball

EMMITSBURG, Md. – Bri Rozzi's jumper with 3:58 left in regulation gave Loyola University Maryland a 64-63 lead over Mount St. Mary's University, but the Mountaineers scored the next eight points and finished with a 73-66 win over the Greyhounds at Knott Arena.
 
Rozzi, who was one of four Loyola players in double figures with 12 points, made the basket to put Loyola in front for the first time since just over five minutes remained in the third quarter.
 
After her basket, neither the Greyhounds, nor Mount St. Mary's scored for more than two minutes. Natalie Villaflor broke he stalemate for the Mountaineers with a layup at 1:35, and she scored 30 seconds later to push the Mount St. Mary's lead to three.
 
Michaela Harrison converted two free throws for the Mountaineers with 38 ticks left on the clock, and after a defensive stop, she made two more to push the score to 71-64.
 
Lex Therien made a layup with 14 seconds left for the Greyhounds, but Jessica Tomasetti hit two free throws a second later to seal the win for the Mountaineers.
 
Taleah Dixon led Loyola with 18 points, and Therien was right behind with 16. She also grabbed 10 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the year. Rozzi scored 12, and Koi Simms added 11 and seven boards. Rozzi and Dixon each had four assists.
 
Loyola will hit the road for its next game, a Wednesday, December 7, game at the University of Pittsburgh.
