WASHINGTON, D.C. - Loyola University Maryland women's lacrosse senior
Jillian Wilson and sophomore
Sydni Black have been added to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List through the first round of additions, as announced by the Foundation Thursday.
Â
The Tewaaraton Award Watch List consists of the top women's lacrosse players in the country and is the list from which the winner for the sport's most prestigious award is chosen. Graduate student
Livy Rosenzweig and senior
Katie Detwiler were on the initial watch list released in February.
Â
Wilson, one of four midfielders added to the watch list, leads the Greyhounds on the draw this season. In winning 33 draw controls, she ranks third in the Patriot League and 18th nationally with 6.60 per game. A first-team All-Patriot League selection a year ago, Wilson has also contributed nine goals and five assists to rank third on the team with 15 points. She also has nine ground balls and three caused turnovers. Â
Â
Black, one of just seven sophomores among the 38 players on the watch list, is having a breakout season for the Greyhounds. The attacker contributed a hat trick through three of the five games this year, scoring 10 combined goals in a three-game streak against Towson, Penn and Penn State. With a five-game scoring streak, she's currently second on the team with 13 goals and 17 points. She's also won 13 draw controls for the Greyhounds.
Â
Loyola, ranked ninth nationally, will face No. 12 Florida on Saturday in the first game of a Loyola lacrosse doubleheader. The Greyhounds will take on the Gators at noon, followed by the men's team against Duke at 4 p.m.
