Seniors
Katie Detwiler and
Jillian Wilson, and graduate students
Livy Rosenzweig and
Kaitlyn Larsson were each named Midseason All-Americans by Inside Lacrosse/ILWomen Thursday afternoon.
Detwiler was one of four defenders named to the 13-member first team, while Wilson was among the top six midfielders to be honored, snagging one of the three midfield spots on the second team. Rosenzweig was one of 12 attackers to earn a spot on one of the three positional teams, picking up third-team honors to make Loyola one of just six schools in the country with three or more players on one of the three teams. Top-ranked and undefeated North Carolina led the way with six honorees, while No. 2 Boston College had five players honored and No. 3 Northwestern, No. 4 Syracuse, No. 5 Maryland and No. 6 Loyola each had three.
Larsson, a goalkeeper, was named an honorable mention All-American.
Detwiler, a native of Devon, Pa., is one of the top match-up defenders in the country. A Tewaaraton Award Watch List honoree and Preseason All-American, Detwiler held Johns Hopkins' Shelby Harrison scoreless in the season opener, Penn State's Kristin O'Neill to just one goal and she snapped Florida's Danielle Pavinelli's six-game streak of hat tricks by allowing her just one goal. All three players were included as honorable mentions on the Midseason All-America list.
Wilson is a true two-way midfielder who has done it all this season and was added to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List midway through the season for her play. Hailing from Hampstead, Md., Wilson leads the team with 61 draw controls and 17 ground balls, while she's second on the team in goals with 21 and third in points, with 29. With a .600 shot percentage, she ranks tied for 16th in the NCAA with teammate
Elli Kluegel.
Rosenzweig is one of the most decorated players to have played at Loyola. A two-time Tewaaraton Award Top-25 Semifinalist, Rosenzweig entered her final season already owning the program's career records for assists and points. She also ranks atop the Patriot League's record books in assists and is four away from becoming just the fifth player in NCAA history to dish out at least 200 assists throughout their career. In addition, with 370 career points, the attacker from Katonah, N.Y., is tied for 16th in NCAA history and is just seven away from breaking the Patriot League's all-time record.
Larsson, a goalkeeper from Garden City, N.Y., was one of eight goalkeepers honored as a Midseason All-American. So far this season, she has posted a 9-1 record in goal to go with a 9.20 goals-against average and .463 save percentage. She's limited opponents to single-digit goals on six occasions this year and has reached double-digit saves twice, including posting a season-best 11 in a win over Penn State. Voted the Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year in the Patriot League, Larsson is also second on the team with 16 ground balls.
Loyola opened the season with nine-straight wins, its first 9-0 start since 2011, and has climbed as high as No. 6 in the polls. The Greyhounds will look to rebound from their first loss of the season on Saturday as they travel to Holy Cross for a 3 p.m. contest.
