Rosenzweig Records 400th Point, Defense Posts Second-Half Shutout In 21-2 Win Over Bucknell

BALTIMORE - The seventh-ranked Loyola University Maryland women's lacrosse team shutout Bucknell through the second half and graduate student Livy Rosenzweig became just the sixth player in NCAA history to reach 400 career points in the Greyhounds' 21-2 victory over the Bison Wednesday night at Ridley Athletic Complex.

Rosenweig led all players with six assists and eight points in the contest to move her career total to 401 points, while sophomore Sydni Black contributed five points on three goals and two assists. Freshman Georgia Latch finished with four points (2 goals, 2 assists), and graduate student Elli Kluegel and junior Meg Hillman recorded hat tricks, with three goals apiece.

Sophomores Gabby Stapleton (2g), Sarah Engle (2a) and Blake Cunneen (1g, 1a), and freshman Chase Boyle (2g) each tacked on two points, while senior Jillian Wilson, junior Emily Wills and junior Catie Corolla all tallied one goal. Sophomore Alanna Wray rounded out the Greyhounds' points with one assist.

Allie Boyce and Taylor Kopan each had one goal for Bucknell (6-8 overall, 3-4 Patriot League).

Defensively for Loyola (14-1 overall, 7-0 Patriot League), Boyle led the way with three caused turnovers and two ground balls. In goal, graduate student Kaitlyn Larsson played the first 45 minutes and stopped four shots while allowing just two goals, and freshman Lauren Spence played the final 15 minutes without giving up a goal.

At the draw, Rosenzweig won nine draws and Wilson added seven to help Loyola hold a 21-5 advantage in the category. The Greyhounds also earned 20 ground balls to the Bison's 11, they outshot Bucknell, 36-9, and they caused 15 turnovers while breaking eight of the Bison's 19 clear attempts.

For the fourth-straight game, Kluegel scored the Greyhounds' first goal, putting a pass from Rosenzweig into the back of the net just over one minute into play. Wilson then made it 2-0 for the Greyhounds at the 12:52 mark. Bucknell was credited with its first goal at the 8:08 mark as the deflection of a save trickled over the goal line.

The Greyhounds recovered to score the next six-straight to pull ahead 8-1 by the 11:56 mark of the second quarter, as Hillman scored twice in the run, followed by goals from Rosenzweig, Black, Wills and Latch, respectively. Bucknell's second goal came at the 10:10 mark of the second quarter, but the Bison would get shutout for the final 40:10, as the Greyhounds rattled off three-unanswered goals to take an 11-2 advantage into halftime.

Black, Hillman, Corolla, Kluegel and Latch then scored in the third quarter to stretch Loyola's run to eight-straight, before a pair of fourth-quarter goals from Boyle and Stapleton and one from Cunneen saw the Greyhounds end the game on a 13-goal run.

Loyola will head to Lafayette on Saturday for its final regular-season road contest. Opening draw is slated for 11 a.m.
