Rosenzweig Becomes Patriot League's All-Time WLAX Scoring Leader In Senior Day Win Over Colgate

BALTIMORE - Four Greyhounds recorded hat tricks and graduate student Livy Rosenzweig became the Patriot League's all-time career scoring leader in the sixth-ranked Loyola University Maryland women's lacrosse team's 22-9 win over Colgate on Senior Day at Ridley Athletic Complex Saturday.

Rosenzweig led all players with four goals, while her five points moved her career total to 381, passing Navy's Kelly Larkin (376 points from 2017-20) for the top spot on the Patriot League's point records. Her 381 points also ranks 12th in NCAA history.

Classmate Elli Kluegel, senior Jillian Wilson and freshman Georgia Latch each recorded hat tricks, scoring three times and adding one assist apiece, while graduate student Sam Fiedler led all players with a season-high six points, scoring twice and adding a game-high four assists.

Sophomore Sydni Black and freshman Chase Boyle added a pair of goals each, and juniors Catie Corolla, Anna Ruby and Emily Wills tacked on one goal apiece.

Boyle also won a game-high seven draw controls, while she added three ground balls and two caused turnovers. Senior Shay Clevenger picked up two ground balls and Rosenzweig and Wilson each won five draws to help give the Greyhounds a 20-15 edge in draw controls.

In goal for the Greyhounds, graduate student Kaitlyn Larsson stopped eight shots while allowing just five goals in 45 minutes of play.

With the win, Loyola (11-1 overall, 4-0 Patriot League) ties UMass for the NCAA record for consecutive conference games won. UMass won 61-straight games in Atlantic 10 play from 2011 through April 22, 2018, while the Greyhounds own the nation's longest-active win streak with a 61-0 record since joining the Patriot League for the 2014 season.

Despite a slow start and Colgate (2-11, 1-4) scoring the first goal of the game, the Greyhounds recovered to score eight first-quarter goals to own an 8-3 advantage after the first 15 minutes. Kluegel scored first 5:32 into play, followed by goals from Latch and Rosenzweig at the 7:40 and 7:25 marks, respectively. The Raiders scored their second at 6:38 and then Fiedler found Latch for a transition goal nine seconds later, at 6:29. Fiedler then assisted Corolla at 5:37, before Colgate netted its third goal, moving the score to 5-3.

Kluegel's goal with 2:06 to play in the first quarter sparked a seven-goal run that spanned the start of the second quarter and gave the Greyhounds a 12-3 advantage at the 11:12 mark. Boyle scored twice in the run, while Rosenzweig, Black, Fiedler and Wills accounted for the other goals.

Colgate haulted the run at 7:34, but Kluegel, Wilson and Fiedler scored to close out the first half with a 15-4 advantage for the Greyhounds.

Loyola stretched its run to eight-straight goals by scoring the first five of the second half with one coming from Latch, Rosenzweig and Black before Wilson netted back-to-back goals. Rosenzweig closed out the third quarter scoring following the Raiders' fifth goal, moving the score to 21-5.

Colgate closed out the game by scoring four of the five fourth-quarter goals. Ruby was the lone Greyhound to score in the fourth quarter, netting her first goal of the season.

Prior to the start of the game, the Greyhounds recognized five graduate students – Sam Fiedler, Maria Kiskis, Elli Kluegel, Kaitlyn Larsson and Livy Rosenzweig – and two seniors – Shay Clevenger and Leah Daly – for their contribution to the Loyola women's lacrosse program.

The Greyhounds will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to American for a 4 p.m. opening draw.
