Women's Lacrosse Earns No. 6 Seed, Draws Mount St. Mary's in NCAA First Round

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The seventh-ranked Loyola University Maryland women's lacrosse team earned the No. 6 seed for the 2022 NCAA Championships and will host the first and second rounds at Ridley Athletic Complex on Friday and Sunday, May 13 and 15, respectively.

Loyola will host Mount St. Mary's at 3 p.m., followed by James Madison vs. University of Connecticut at 7 p.m. The winners of the two games will advance to Sunday's second round game, which will be played at 1 p.m. at Ridley Athletic Complex.

The Greyhounds (18-1 overall, 9-0 Patriot League) are one of three teams nationally with one loss or less this season. They earned an automatic bid to the national tournament after winning their third-straight, and sixth overall, Patriot League Championship on Saturday. Winners of its conference championship eight of the last 11 years, Loyola will be making its 10th NCAA Tournament appearance under head coach Jen Adams and its 23rd appearance overall.

Mount St. Mary's (15-4) advanced to the NCAA Championships after winning its second-straight Northeast Conference Championship on Saturday, defeating Bryant, 15-13.

This will mark just the second time the Greyhounds and Mountaineers have met in women's lacrosse, as Loyola earned a 12-7 victory at Mount St. Mary's on April 9, 2008.

The winner of this weekend's second round will advance to the quarterfinal round and play again on Thursday, May 19. The NCAA semifinals and championship game will be played at Johns Hopkins' Homewood Field on Friday and Saturday, May 27 and 29.
