The 2022 World Games took place July 12-16 in Birmingham, Alabama, with Loyola University Maryland rising-sophomores Georgia Latch and Lauren Spence joining head coach Jen Adams and assistant coach Dana Dobbie at the event. Spence and Dobbie earned a gold medal playing for Team Canada, while Latch suited up for the bronze-medal Australians and Adams served as a coach for Team Australia.

Saturday, July 16 - Behind a four-goal performance by Dana Dobbie and 13 saves by Lauren Spence, Team Canada defeated the United States of America, 14-12, to earn a gold medal at the 2022 World Games in Birmingham, Alabama. Georgia Latch also scored three goals and dished out two assists to help Team Australia capture the bronze medal with a 13-7 win over Great Britain in the third-place game. 

Throughout the tournament, Latch contributed six goals and eight assists through five games for the Aussies, while Dobbie scored 11 goals through three games for the Canadians. In goal for Canada, Spence picked up 53 saves while allowing 41 goals for a .564 save percentage in five games. 

Friday, July 15 - Dana Dobbie scored six goals and Lauren Spence saved 13 shots to lead Team Canada to a 12-7 win over their Hound rivals, Jen Adams, Georgia Latch and Team Australia in the semifinals of the World Games Friday afternoon. With the win, Canada advances to the Gold Medal game where they'll face the United States tomorrow at 9:30 p.m. ET, while the Australians will play Great Britain in the Bronze Medal game at 8 p.m. ET. The medal ceremony will take place at the conclusion of the gold medal game at approximately 10:35 p.m. ET tomorrow night.

Thursday, July 14 - Georgia Latch netted a hat trick for Team Australia in its 11-8 win over Japan today, while Lauren Spence turned back 10 shots to help Team Canada to a 19-7 win over Haudenosaunee in the final game of the preliminary round at the World Games. 

With a perfect 3-0 record in the preliminary round, Canada finished first in Group B and has advanced to the semifinal round. The Canadians will face Australia, which went 2-1 through the preliminary round play and finished second in Group A, tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. ET. The winner of the contest will advance to the gold medal game to face the winner of the other semifinal game between the United States and Great Britain. The losers of the two games will play in the bronze medal game on Saturday.

Wednesday, July 13 - Lauren Spence led Team Canada to a 14-6 win over Israel on the second day of play, tying the World Games tournament-high for save percentage, turning back 12 of 18 shots faced for a .667 save percentage. Through two games, the Canadians lead the Group B standings with a 2-0 record. Israel and Great Britain are tied for second, each with 1-1 records, and Haudenosaunee Confederacy is fourth at 0-2. Canada and Haudenosaunee will face off tomorrow at 1 p.m. ET. 

Australia earned its first win of the World Games today, defeating the Czech Republic, 16-8. Georgia Latch contributed four of the Australians seven assists in the contest, finishing second on the team with four points. Through two games, the Aussies are tied for second place with Japan in the Group A standings, each with 1-1 records. The United States is undefeated, at 2-0, while the Czech Republic is 0-2. Australia will close out its group play tomorrow against Japan. Game time is scheduled for 11:30 a.m ET.

Tuesday, July 12
Team Canada opened its World Games group play with a 16-9 win over Great Britain, while Australia fell to the United States, 16-6. Dana Dobbie scored once for the Canadians, while Lauren Spence earned five saves in her World Games debut. For Australia, Georgia Latch won two draw controls.

The two teams, Australia and Canada, are in opposite groups and will not face each other throughout the group play. Canada will face Israel on Tuesday and the Haudenosaunee Confederacy on Wednesday. Australia will take on the Czech Republic tomorrow and Japan on Wednesday. Placement games will begin on Thursday with medal games taking place on Friday. 

Monday, July 11
The 2022 World Games will begin tomorrow, with Loyola University Maryland rising-sophomores Georgia Latch and Lauren Spence joining head coach Jen Adams and assistant coach Dana Dobbie at the event. Spence and Dobbie are playing for Team Canada, while Latch is suited up for the Australians and Adams is serving as a coach for Team Australia.

Women's lacrosse made its debut in The World Games in 2017 in Wroclaw, Poland, where the United States defeated Canada to claim the gold medal. A total of eight countries will compete in this year's five-day women's lacrosse tournament; Australia, Canada, Czech Republic, Great Britain, Haudenosaunee, Israel, Japan and the United States. Play is called "Sixes" and is a fast-paced version of the sport played on a smaller field (70 x 36 meters), with fewer players (6-v-6), a condensed game length (four 8-minute quarters) and a 30-second shot clock. The Sixes discipline was formally announced in May 2021 by World Lacrosse, the next step in a process that began in 2018. World Lacrosse appointed a working group to develop a version of the sport that would complement the existing box and field versions of the sport that would meet the following five objectives:

• Support and encourage the continued growth of lacrosse worldwide
• Provide greater access to lacrosse by eliminating barriers to entry (e.g., cost, team size, field size)
• Appeal to the next generation of sport participants and fans with a discipline that features tempo, speed, scoring and less specialization
• Over time, create greater competitive balance internationally by bringing more nations within reach of the podium at major international events
• And, fit within the 21st Century Olympic framework, where the International Olympic Committee and Host Cities are working to reduce the cost and complexity of staging the Olympic Games

Competition will begin on Tuesday with Spence and Dobbie helping Team Canada as it takes on Great Britain, while the United States will face Latch, Adams and Australia at 4 p.m. ET at the University of Alabama Birmingham's PNC Field.
