BALTIMORE – The first competition of the 2022-23 season for the Loyola University Maryland women's tennis team was cut short by rain on Friday and impending weather over the weekend, but three Greyhounds teams won matches during the first round of the Loyola Invitational.
 
Anna Rico teamed with Liza Tankimovich and Taylor Kuncl to beat a Bucknell trio for one of the Greyhounds' wins. Rico and Tankimovich won, 6-3, in doubles, while Rico cruised to an 8-2 win in singles.
 
Jessica Bodewes and Emi Shivkumar were another Loyola duo to post a win against a Patriot League foe as they beat a pair from Lafayette. The Loyola pair won, 6-2, in doubles, and Shivkumar was an 8-1 winner in singles.
 
Christine Richiez and Jocelyn Assael made their Loyola debuts with a win over a Lafayette team, shutting out the Leopards, 6-0 in doubles before both moving on to singles victories.
 
The Greyhounds will be back in action in two weeks when they host the Loyola Classic.
