BURKE, Va. –
Jessica Bodewes and
Christine Richiez won singles matches, and
Lauren Manwiller and
Jocelyn Assael combined for a doubles victory, on Saturday night, but George Mason Univeristy beat the Loyola University Maryland women's tennis team, 5-2, indoors a the Burke Tennis and Racquet Club.
Manwiller and Assael scored a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles over Jackie Nannery and Lauren Splett, but the Patriots took the other two doubles contests to earn the point. Paige La and Taylor Garcia beat Bodewes and
Olivia Tracey, 6-4, at No. 1, and Emily Wirt and Jenin Al-Asadi edged Richiez and
Liza Tankimovich, 7-5, at No. 3.
Bodewes earned a point back for the Greyhounds with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Maitree Diksha Root at No. 3 singles, and Richiez used the same scores to drop Wirt at No. 4, but George Mason would capture the other four singles matches.
La used a super-tiebreaker third set to beat Tracey at No. 1, 7-5, 5-7, (10-5), and Taylor got past Manwiller, 6-4, 7-5, at No. 2. Ashley Fitz-Patrick beat Assael, 7-5, 6-4, at No. 5, and Nannery was a 6-2, 7-5 winner over
Madison Metzdorf at No. 6.
