HAMILTON, N.Y. – A
Golden Dike offensive rebound and dunk with 6:11 left in regulation pulled Loyola University Maryland within five, 62-57, on Monday night at Colgate University, but the Raiders used a 14-3 run of their own to pull away for a 76-63 Patriot League victory.
Dike finished two points off his career-high with 16 points, a total matched by
Deon Perry.
Jaylin Andrews and
Kenneth Jones each scored 10 for the Greyhounds.
A Perry layup off a Jones steal with 13:03 to play narrowed a once 18-point Colgate (17-7 overall, 11-0 Patriot League) lead to 55-40 and started a 17-7 run for the Greyhounds that got them within five on Dike's dunk.
Perry scored five during the run, while Dike, Andrews and
Tyson Commander all had four during the stretch that covered almost seven minutes.
Two Andrews free throws at 3:12 later made it 68-60 in Colgate's favor, but threes on back-to-back possessions by Oliver Lynch-Daniels and Ryan Moffatt pushed the Raiders up by 14.
Moffatt led Colgate with 19 points, and Braeden Smith added 16 with seven assists.
Loyola had 19 assists, its most in Patriot League games this year, and nine steals. Andrews, Perry and Jones all had four assists, while Perry swiped four steals, and Jones added three.
Alonso Faure had a game-best 10 rebounds as Loyola took a 31-30 advantage on the boards. He scored five points, and Commander added six.
Loyola returns to Retiz Arena on Saturday, February 4, for a 5 p.m. game against Boston University.
