Baltimore -- Bucknell University scored the lone goal of the game in the fourth minute on Wednesday evening to get past Loyola University Maryland in a Patriot League women's soccer match.
The Bison (8-3-3 overall, 3-1-2 Patriot League) scored early in the game, after a cross into the box from Teresa Deda found Hanna Stuck, who's chested pass to Paige Temple led to an early Bucknell goal.
From there, the Greyhounds (9-4 overall, 4-2 Patriot League) looked for the equalizer, as the Greyhounds out shot the Bison 9-3 in the first half.
Baylee DeSmit had a pair of good looks at goal, including a free kick just outside the penalty box that went just high, as the Greyhounds trailed at halftime.
In the second half, the Greyhounds continued to apply the pressure, as they dominated the possession in the half, out shooting Bucknell 11-1 in the half.
The Greyhounds still trailed the Bison going into the final two minutes of the game, where
Delaney DeMartino had a pair of shots on goal, but were saved by the Bisons' Jenna Hall. With just 40 seconds remaining, DeSmit had another look on goal off of a pass from
Malia Tarazon, that Hall saved with her finger tips. The Greyhounds had one last chance at a draw, but off of their ensuing corner kick, a header from
Zoe Willis went high, as the Bison held on for the win, 1-0.
DeSmit and Tarazon each had six shots on the night.
Bucknells Jenna Hall had 8 saves on the night.
The Greyhounds will continue Patriot League play on Saturday, as they will host Holy Cross at noon for senior day.
