Bethlehem -- Lehigh University scored the lone goal of the game in the 86th minute on Saturday afternoon to get past Loyola University Maryland in a Patriot League women's soccer match.
The Greyhounds (10-5 overall, 5-3 Patriot League) had an early chance at goal, as
Olivia Quaranta sent a header towards goal, but was saved by the Mountain Hawks (7-4-4 overall, 4-3-1 Patriot League). Neither found any momentum on the offensive side of the ball, as each team had four shots in the first half, as teams were tied 0-0.
To start the second half, the Greyhounds had a pair of shots from
Chloe Kuminkoski and a free kick shot by
Baylee DeSmit were saved by Lehigh, as teams remained scoreless. Loyola had the offensive momentum for the majority of the second half, until a long Lehigh free kick was sent into the box, and was headed into the goal in the 86th minute. The Greyhounds had a pair of final chances to tie up the game, but could not equalize, as they lost 1-0.
Loyola led in shots 13-6 and in shots on goal 6-2. They also led in corner kicks 4-0 on the afternoon.
The Greyhounds will wrap up the regular season on Wednesday, as they travel to face American.
