D'Angelo Stines scored nine points during a 19-0 Loyola University Maryland run, and the Greyhounds went on to a 58-40 exhibition game victory over McDaniel College on Sunday in Reitz Arena.
Stines finished with 14 points, matching teammate
Tyson Commander for game-high honors.
McDaniel took a 33-32 lead with 10:46 left on a Kevin Connelly three, but
Jordan Stiemke pulled down an offensive rebound for the Greyhounds and scored 42 ticks later to give Loyola the lead and start the run.
Stines scored the next four on a pair of free throws and a pull-up 17-footer at 8:44. Commander scored a pair on free throws less than a minute later, and
Golden Dike scored off a Stines assist at 7:29 to make it a 42-33 Loyola lead.
Deon Perry converted an acrobatic layup with 5:58 on the clock, and Stines added five more points with a pull-up two and a transition three, stretching the lead to 49-33 Loyola with 3:46 left on the clock.
He capped the run with a fast-break layup at 2:53, and Loyola's lead was 18.
Alonso Faure contributed a double-double for the Greyhounds with 10 points and 11 rebounds, and Dike matched him for game-high honors with 11 boards.
Loyola will open the 2023-24 regular-season on Monday, November 6 with an 8 p.m. game at the University of Florida.
